A fixture on the Atlanta scene for more than a decade now, MJQ Concourse really took off back in 1997, when it moved from a tiny space in the basement of an old hotel into its current home in what used to be a parking garage. Though the club changed its name to MJQ Concourse and revamped its decor, it never lost its appeal for clubgoers looking to avoid the trendiness of Midtown and Buckhead nightlife.
The dimly lit interior, complete with comfy couches and a small dance floor, is warm and inviting, with a side room (featuring a second bar and an additional DJ booth) that allows for even more intimate conversation. MJQ isn't for everybody -- its below-the-radar status is a central aspect of its charm -- but it's a welcome oasis for fans of the hip sounds of house, hip-hop, drum 'n' bass and U.K. garage.

..I dont go clubbing often but when i do dust off the cob webs off....MJQ on saturday nights is the only place for great dancing and a lack of Yuppies, bling-blingers, thugs and other phonies that make the club scene in ATL quite tired. The atmosphere is VERY laid back as are the various assortments of people in there. The club is the most diverse I have seen in the ATL which gives it a more northern or west coast flavor .
The only drawback is the freaking parking( $200.00 in towing fees & Taxi fares...DO NOT PARK AT KROGERS) and that this might not be the best place to meet chicks because most come just to dance and cool out.
..By the way, some good House musicdata analyst
I absolutely love MJQ on Saturday nights! This is one of the few clubs in the metro Atlanta area that gives you that underground feel, in an underground atmosphere with some serious underground house music fo' yo' ass! If you are a true house head and you are looking for more than what the mainstream clubs have to offer, you may wanna give MJQ a try! If you are not used to thinking outside of the box, then this may not be the place for you!The clientele consists of a little bit of every walk of life from gay to straight, black/white/brown and I think I even saw a blue person once. You have Americans, Asians, Latinos and whoever else has love for the universal house vibe. You even have some of the "beautiful people" that have grown tired of the overrated Buckhead scene and found their way to MJQ. The only negative comment that I could possibly make about MJQ is that the last time I went there it turned into a $200 night due to the fact that my SUV was towed, because I was parked in the wrong place. {Mind you, I parked at the Kroger across the street as there was no available parking anywhere else.} So if you go to MJQ, be very, very mindful of where you park your vehicle, other than that, be prepared to have a good time!

I @#$%^ love this club. This is the hottest yet. They have me homesick. On fridays they do what no other clubs in this city do and thats take you back for the real hip hop heads with alittle bit of a reggae set, some house blend and alittle neo (ie. original juicy blended with a beat drop from B.I.G.). Nas, Jeru, Tribe, Beatnuts, you name it. You leave the atlanta club scene and enter an oldschool basement house party in every aspect. Saturday is the house vibe which is also official. It gets just as good a rating as fridays. I love the mixed crowd, the drinks and the prices are fabulous. This club is so non-commercial and real its unbelievable. MJQ's is definitely gangsta! I'm feenin' for friday. The roof is definitely on FIRE! Holla!

I hate that MJQ is posted on this. I think this place has been one of Midtown's best kept secrets for years, and now, Buckhead might invade it. I say don't go there to keep the becky buckhead's away . . . but it is one of the few places left with little attitude, a varied mix of people, and the best deep house in town. If you go out to be seen, stay away.

I wish I could give this place 5+ stars. Native New Yorker here and thought Atlanta was just the land of shopping malls, milque toast folks, and banal pop music. Saturday nights at MJQ's was revelation--in a word it's is BUMPIN'! The mixed crowd(gay, lesbian, bi, straight, blk, wht, asian, latin, preppies, dreads, ravers, punkers) remains me of my fave haunts in NYC. Zero attitude-- just true hipsters. Go there prepared to dance and sweat to engrossing, slap-yo-mama beats. Nowhere else in town even begins to compare.
