Chastain Park Amphitheater, home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Classic Chastain summer series, is perhaps Atlanta's favorite outdoor concert venue. The season features some of the country's top acts in jazz, rock, folk, rhythm & blues, country, and pop, some of which appear with the Grammy Award-winning ASO. If your group contains 20 or more, check out reserving space in Club Chastain, the coolest place at the concert, with private air-conditioned bathrooms, a private cash bar, fans to cool you off and tents in inclement weather. Call 404-733-4848 for details. -- Edna McCown
Best Bet for Parking: Prepaid parking is available to subscribers on a first-come, first-served basis. For others, there are several lots near the amphitheater, at an average cost of $5. It is suggested to arrive early to ensure a spot.
Best Ways to Get to the Park: The amphitheater is in northwest Atlanta, between Buckhead and Sandy Springs, off Roswell Road, near the intersection of West Wieuca and Powers Ferry Roads. City bus service to Chastain departs from the Lindbergh Station.
Best Food at the Park: Classic Chastain offers two great catering options: Glorious Events (770-452-9202) and Proof of the Pudding (678-584-9581) prepare gourmet appetizers and dinners at reasonable prices. Order ahead and your meal will be waiting when you arrive. On- site concessions sell an impressive array of food and beverages, or pack your own meal and bring it with you. Chastain's porter service helps get your treats to your seats.

For peace and quiet stay home!

On July 19, 2006 my husband and I went to see Paul Simon. The show was really nice. Paul sounded great. What did bother us is when during the last encore we stood up to dance and cheer. On man sitting 1 row up from us told us to shut the F up. Another man asked us a little nicer to sit down. We are huge Paul Simon fans and were extremely disappointed by the attitudes of the few sour apples in the group. People need to realize that if they want to go to a concert there are going to be folks there who just want to have a good time singing and dancing. We did not go to the concert to sit there and stuff our faces with wine and cheese. How do you go to a concert of one of the best musicians in the world, a legend and complain about everything. My advice to those who wanted to ruin other peoples experience is to buy the CD and sit at home!
P.S. On the brighter side, after the concert was over at least a half dozen people came up to us and said nice things like...It is so nice to see a real fan. Thank you to those people for taking the edge off of that bitter pill.
If you want to enjoy a concert without the fluff don't go to Chastain. I will be giving Chastain a second chance. Tonight we will be going to see Willie Nelson. If my second visit to Chastain is a better experience, I will come online and correct my statements. Until then...Add CommentGreat Place!!!

Yes, there are a few talkers at each show, but many of you will be surprised to know that people talk at EVERY concert you go to! The difference here is that the music is quieter (neighborhood ordinance) and the conversations sometimes take over the music - especially if the patrons are close to you and the music is softer. Ask them to stop and usually they will. Grow some balls! The best way to see Chastain is to buy early through the Classic Chastain subscriptions. You get a discount to multiple shows, and priority seating (BEFORE Ticketmaster comes in). Worth the trip if you like high class music in a great atmosphere. Bring your candles!
Really Sad...
that so many people pay money for great music they don't actually listen to during the concerts at this place. A great venue in the past but with the chic moderns that attend now, nobody ever shuts up long enough to hear a note. I have seen several show, all different kinds of music & the same rude yacky people were there at every show! They wouldn't stop blathering when Carlos Santana asked them to listen to the music! I agree w/ beeswing, the place is over because the yacker say so.
excellent venue
Been there twice to see the Queen Of Dance- Donna Summer and was the most wonderful outside event in history. Clean, visual is great, and yes- so was DONNA SUMMER!
Great Venue A+
Wonderful venue, great place to spend the summer evenings. Found my tickets at Encore Tickets in Atlanta. http://www.encoretickets.com/app/searchsummary.asp?VenueSearchString=Chastain

In July of 2002, I saw Will Downing at Chastain Park. The weather was beautiful and the crowd loved every moment. It is the one of my favorite spots for liv music in Atlanta. The concert was just good compared to previous appearances. I would much rather see Will in concert with Chante' Moore & Gerald Albright.

I saw 2 shows at Chastain this summer. Jewel and Elvis Costello. Both times the place itself was great, but I do not consider it a serious venue for music and won't be going back. Here is why: People who go there need to shut the hell up during the show. Any act that has a slow song, bet on countless drunk people around you singing off key and talking non stop over the songs they don't know. I'm not sure of the solution to this, but Atlanta seems to be the only outdoor venue I've experienced this at. Please...for the sake of the music...stop talking during the show.
