Long before P.F. Chang's arrived on the scene, Winnie Leung was serving up Chinese standards to Winter Park's hungry masses at her classy Orange Avenue restaurant. In business since 1996, the eatery continues to pack 'em in, thanks to a tantalizing menu that focuses on fresh-prep Szechwan and Peking dishes with a few cult-classic specialties.
Loyal patrons swear by the crispy sea bass -- breaded filets of fresh fish, deep-fried and topped with a ginger and pepper sauce. Winnie's original Hong Kong-style wonton soup is another favorite, loaded with soft wonton pillows stuffed with pork and shrimp in an egg noodle broth. The menu offers all the classics, too, such as moo goo gai pan and orange peel beef. For a taste of the real Chinese deal, plan your visit to coincide with Chinese New Year when the restaurant celebrates with delicacies like shark's fin soup, sauteed abalone, sea cucumber and thousand-year egg. There's a small outdoor seating area centered on a pretty fountain and the main dining room's muted earth tones and clean modern lines is equally appealing.

Always has been good!

We've eaten at Winnie's since it opened and the food has been consistently good over all the years. It is very reasonably priced and we always wonder why people would stand in line for a chain restaurant like PF Chang when you can usually walk in to Winnie's and have a better meal. AND why not support a local business? I can't imagine a review like the couple of negative ones. I don't usually write reviews but felt that someone else has to defend this exceptional local restaurant.
Add Commentworst dinner experience ever!
i have never tasted anything so foul. i had the pan fried vegetables and noodles. there were only about 5 broccoli stems in the dish to serve as the vegetables, and that's it. the noodles were burnt on the bottom and they tried to hide it on the plate. the whole meal tasted like dishwater and burnt noodle. my boyfriend's meal wasn't horrible but very mediocre for the price. we will never return.
Best CHINESE in ORLANDO
RESTAURANT IS VERY CLEAN, FOOD IS EXCEPTIONALLY APPEALING , LINENS THE TABLE AND VERY TASTY CUISINE. I have never , in 4 years , had a sub par meal at this establishment. The previous review was not very kind. My husband and I live very close and dine there at least once a week. The vegetables are fresh, the beef, chicken and fish are fresh. NOT all the preservatives and salt. There are very few clean restaurant kitchens . I see a lot of restaurant kitchens because of my line of work with restaurants and equipment installation. Believe me , I can tell you where not to eat in Orlando. Remember, If the restroom is not clean, then the kitchen isn't clean, the help working in the kitchen will not be very clean and so you , my friend, are eating dirty food. NO DIRT IN YOUR FOOD AT WINNIE"S. Clean everything. TRY IT OUT!
Poor
The seafood soup is all Bean Curd. The Shrimp in the Shrimp w/chicken & cashews was not cleaned and deveined.
Spent $50 and came away hungry.Old Pork
The dish I had was less than average, with what tated like old pork. Don't think I'll be going back
