It's not everyday you come across a place named after floor mats, but then again, it's not everyday you come across a place like Tatame. This ''Hong Kong-inspired lounge'' fuses an ostensibly Asiatic mix of Music, Art, Tea and Sake (M.A.T.S., get it?) in a backdrop that's sleek as well as inviting. Requisite floor mats and tatame tables occupy one side of this bohemian-chic lounge while a white sectional sofa and bar table with bombo stools occupies the other. The walls are decorated with original artwork created by proprietress Maggie Lee and other local artists, most of which are available for purchase even if it says they're not.

The fare is limited to sandwiches, salads, wings and satay, in addition to a handful of sushi rolls, including a spicy tuna version that'll have you craving for some sake. Contrary to popular opinion, rice wine is best served slightly chilled, and with an assortment more varied than characters in the Japanese alphabet, patrons here can get their fill from hot and cold varieties as well as fruit infused sake with such exotic flavors as lychee, watermelon and mango. Bubble tea, a cold refreshing beverage made with tea, milk, fruit juice and tapioca balls, is a popular beverage in cities with large Asian populations like San Francisco, New York and Toronto, and its Orlando debut is sure to be popular with Rollins College students who frequent the joint. DJs and live acts perform on a regular basis as well, and if you're a night owl, take note -- Tatame is open until 3AM on the weekends.
