Originated in Atlanta during the early '70s, this regional chain fuses a trippy mix of psychedelia and pizza. It's become a favorite hangout among college students in university towns like Athens, Chapel Hill and Asheville -- no surprise, then, that they've opened the Orlando joint just down the road from Rollins College. Inside the cottage-like building, rock music, toadstool statuettes and mushroom art merge with slick contemporary furniture to create a hippie-chic ambience.
A hodgepodge of specialty pizzas, calzones, hoagies, salads and pretzels are served up; though rest assured -- you won't find 'shrooms of the magical variety anywhere on the menu. The pies are stone-baked with a high-gluten, spring water dough which contains no refined sugars making for a deliciously healthy pizza that won't leave you bloated. Specialties like the Kosmic Karma with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, feta and pesto, or the pesto-based pie with spinach, portobello and button shrooms, feta and jalapenos are beyond compare. Meat-lovers will relish the House Special topped with five different meats and a bevy of veggies. The enormous tofu, tempeh and portobello hoagies will please vegetarian diners while the jerk chicken garnished with grilled pineapples is totally far out, man. College seniors will appreciate the 22 beers offered on tap as well as the assortment available by the bottle whereas families will ultimately dig the reasonable prices and fun atmosphere.

Jessiann47 - 07/05/2008I had my reception for my baby's baptism here and although they cant take reservations they accommodated all of our 20 guests! Service was the best we did not have to ask for refills, napkins nothing! Not to mention the best pizza!

Ttimee - 05/31/2008My son brought me to the Mellow Mushroom-he's a huge Beatle fan. The Magical Mystery Tour Pizza is the best pizza i've ever had-the crust on their pizza is wonderful. I go to the Mellow Mushroom every time I go to Orlando. I wish they were located where I live-CT. I LOVE the Mellow Mushroom.

I went there for the first time with my coworker and my son who is a very picky eater. Let me just say that he LOVED it! The service is also great and the place is very comfortable. I am hooked on this place now!

kanesmom75 - 02/15/2007The Mellow Mushroom offers one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten and let me tell you, I am a conassieur. The service is friendly and the atmosphere fun. One of the menu items I highly recommend is the calzones. Oh my goodness, they are heavenly.
Superb food
skulles - 01/12/2007The pizza is very good, but you should not go for the pizza. The pretzels are truely the best thing on the menu. If you dont get an order of pretzels with your meal or as your meal then you missed out on something amazing.
