An evening garden party is one of the ways that locals like to describe this South Tampa favorite, but it's a garden party with an edge. Weekends are generally packed with beautiful 20-somethings, different music plays nightly, and the venue's pizza bar is one of the area's best-kept secrets.

Housing three very different bars under one roof, Hyde Park Cafe has multiple personalities, one hipster, one club kid and one hippie. Velociti is a clean, futuristic-looking, indoor drinking spot. Then there's Cafe Courtyard which, as the name implies, is an outdoor venue and serves as Hyde Park Cafe's dance floor. It can become so crowded on weekend nights, it might better be called a stand-in- one-spot-and-wiggle floor. Finally, Wally & Bernie's Lounge is the spot to chow down on pizza. Its decor features lots of wood and a look that's modern overall. The cafe offers different musical themes each night. For example, Tuesday is jazz and funk while Thursday serves up salsa and Latino rock.

While you have to be 21 to drink here, women (not guys) ages 18 and up area admitted on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Nightly drink specials run from $5 Mad Melon Margaritas to $2.50 bottles of Rolling Rock. Laura Spinale

    we went here and the club was not that big, nor were there any hot guys there. We will not be going back there.

    I'm a 36 SWF salsa novice, but Salsa Caliente has free classes each Thursday- and you dance with each guy in class- GREAT way to meet dance partners for the night! I love it!

    Also- the drinks are great, as a "Goddess Club Member" you get front of the line privleges, and a free drink coupon = and it's a free signup too :-) SWEET!

    Mojitos are incredible, long islands are powerful, and pizza is wonderful.

    Not only is this place beautiful but you are bound to find the best latin people in the Tampa Bay area. Thursday nights are the best to go to! It is 100% sure that you will have a good time. Just go and see!

    The place itself is beautiful, especially outside. An outdoor courtyard with lots of plants separates the two indoor dance floors. On Thursday nights they play reggaeton and hip-hop mixes in the bar/lounge that is to the left upon entering. In here, there are very comfy couches for lounging, but lots of people dance in here too. On the side to the right upon entering, they play salsa, bachata, and merengue. You'll find some good dancers in here! Lots of fun! Been there once on a Tuesday and the music was techno. The crowd was different... not sure how to describe it but to me they seemed more business-like. I heard people RAVE about their pizzas, but I haven't yet tried one myself.

    I was not impressed...It seems to be a lot of stuck up poeple trying to impress eachother by the brand name of thier sunglasses...The only thing that made the night any fun was the friendly bartender.

    The cafe has been remodeled twice since this pic., the first remodel was about 4-41/2 yrs ago!!! Someone get out there and take some recent pics, the place is amazing.Definitely the best club in Tampa check out their website to see how the place really looks thehydeparkcafe.com
