Disappointed!
My husband and I went there a few months ago. The food was ok, but certainly not worth the price. It was actually a little bland. The server forgot to bring my salad and wasn't very attentive. I finally had to tell the manager so we could just get our bill and get to The Phantom of the Opera on time. The manager apologize and refunded my dinner, which was professional and not expected. Even then the server still almost didn't give me the right change. I had to figure it out for her. In all, we were very disappointed and will not be back.
Add CommentReally Good!!!

1st time diner at 717 last night and wanted to let all AOL users know that the Best Date Spot --was correct. It was more than a date spot, the food was delicious, service very attentive, ambiance was perfect, and our booth was cozy. It was very very busy..but with all of those people, we still got our food in a good time. I had the Sizzling Swordfish w/ kamichi fried rice, and my date had the petite filet, one of the best she has had. We tried the Warm Spinach Salad, Crab Wontons and Yellow Tail Tuna app's...alll were perfect. All of the desserts are homemade, on the menu was an upside down Apple Pie, a Chocolate Lava Cake, Key Lime Pie and many others...The Menu was HUGE..with over 30 entree's on both sides of the menu, Italian and Pacific Rim.. A lot to choose from, seafood , steaks and speciality salads...nightly specials, 300 bottle wine list, and a long bar filled with the trendy people of SoHo... Live Music was perfect, and not loud. The scene was very hip..We will definitely go back...
Great Food, Good People

I have only been to this restaurant a handful of times. Every time the food is delicious. I don't think I have ever had something bad here. My favorite is the Macadamia Nut Chicken Sandwich. The wait staff is very polite and willing to go the extra mile for you. All in all a great place!!
Loved 717.. Outstanding!!!!
This place deserves all the attention it is receiving. I am part of a group of 10 guys that meets once a month at a new location. Dan, in our group, was the one who had heard about 717.--and I am so happy he did. I was there on Wednesday night and enjoyed not only the diversified menu, but heard a wondeful JAZZ duo--who perfoms there every Wed. night. The atmosphere was upbeat, trendy and established. The bar was packed with the in crowd, from all ages. I had the Tuna for the app, a warm spinach salad and crab wontons for starters, the Delmonico steak, and the apple pie for dessert. They were all amazing. Most of my friends ordered the famous Miso and Sake cured fish, which was unique and fresh, something to rave about.
All in all, i have decided to come back with my date this Sat.
A must go to restaurant for all.Unforgetable...AMAZING
We went to seven 17 last night with a large group and found everything a person could wish for in a restaurant. The atmosphere is electric, the food was delicious and the service was more than we could have hoped for on this busy night. The place was packed!!!
To start of the night, which was buzzing with the beautiful and business set, we got a table ( a cozy booth ) in the front. The wait for a table was worth it. We had the mussels, Crab Wontons, Shrimp cocktail, and a warm spinach salad. All were peferctly prepared.
For our entree's, we ordered the Miso and Sake Catch of the Day, ( Seven 17's Famous Fish dish), vegetable cheesecake, Penne Paluzzi, Macadamia Nut Chicken, Smoked Salmon and a Delmonico and NY Strip.
Desserts were DELICIOUS!!! chocolate torte, 3 Sauces creme brulee, apple pie a la mode.
The Wine List had over 200 bottles, and on that night, we ordered a bottle of Silver Oak, Cab, and a bottle of Saintsbury Chard.
We will definitely come back, again and again.A Perfect 10
It seems like everyone is talking about this new restaurant, 717 South. I see them on TV, winning awards as Chef of the Year, Most Romantic, etc. Its true. Even that night, there was wedding proposal. Everything about this restaurant was amazing. For starters we ordered the PuPu Platter which was a combination of seafood, including coconut shrimp, seared tuna, spring rolls, and the house specialty 717 Lollipops ( a combo of crab, shrimp and scallops), I ordered the DelMonico Steak, which was perfect and came w/ a huge serving of onion rings served on top. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable of the menu and the entire wine list--which is extensive, over 250 bottles. The ambiance of this restaurant is hip and classy..high ceilings, 1920 Art deco paintings, wood trim and an open kitchen. All in all, it was one of the best dining experiences I've had.
Offensive and disgusting
We can't figure how this scum hole got the "city's Best" rating applied to it. We were there on a night when we decided to start at the north end of Howard Av and try an appetizer at each restaurant along the way until we were full. Because of that, we sat at the bar and ordered one dish each. Well, at least we tried to order but the wait staff didn't seem to have a clue why they were there. The stupid, blonde bimbo that was working our area of the bar was so absorbed in flirting with the male wait staff and, literally, "making-out" (as in deep long kisses) over the bar with a customer, that we really felt that we were messing up her life by being there. I ordered lobster bisque, that was thick, tasteless and contained more flour than any other ingredient. It would have been better suited to use as wall paper paste than as food. My wife can not even remeber what she ordered, it was that forgettable. This is a place tyhat the brainless young idiots of current day SoHo may find attractive, but don't go there for food or service. This place delivers anything but those two items.
Wonderful

deserving of all of its awards and achievements... huge menu w/ innovative dishes...service was perfect, 0ver 200 bottles on wine list, great atmosphere, open kitchen, trendy nightlife and fine dining all in one....
