A little over priced,

My steak was perfect but paying $30 just for the steak and NO sides is a little much for a "normal" working person. Each side dish is $7.50 extra which can really add up. Everything was hot and in large portions. The banana dessert was absolutely delicious. I wish we could afford to go more often but $120 for dinner for two with no drinks is not an every week thing for us. I guess business men put it on their expense accounts!

Ruth's Steaks are tops!

Whenever we are looking for that perfect, USDA Prime, melt-in-your mouth steak, with that perfect corn-fed flavor, cooked to perfection and served sizzling in butter (this greatly enhances the flavor of the meat- it is very complimentary), we head to Ruth's Chris. Tampa is fortunate to have Ruth's Chris, and believe it or not, it is one of their best locations. The decor is like a fine dining room at an upscale, private club, or sumptuous old hotel. The mahogany woods, intimate lighting, and fine prints enhance the overall experience.

Everything from start to finish is top notch. Ruth's has the best onion soup around, perfect stock flavor, rich caramelized onions and a hint of booze, perfectly baked with crouton and the right kind of cheese on top. Even the bread is good, piping hot with whipped butter. Their salads are good, especially the Chopped Salad (though we occasionally need extra dressing). Their caesar is decent but Berns' Caesar is better. Ruth's excels at side dishes- the best in the industry. Creamed spinach is delicious, heart-stopping au gratin potatoes with aged cheddar, thick onion rings, and the best bearnaise sauce in town are our favorites.

The steaks are the signature item and are a treat. The filet is tender and juicy, the Porterhouse for Two is highly recommended, one of the best steaks anywhere and full of flavor. They come sizzling in butter but you can have them without butter or w/ extra. Seafood entrees are decent and may vary by location, but the steak is so good we usually don't eat seafood here.

Dessert offers delectable creme brulee' and a nice bread pudding. I prefer the cheesecake and apple pie elsewhere over Ruth's unfortunately, and with their amazing ovens, they should seriously consider doing souffle's and a hot Godiva cake, like Morton's does. Decent wine list with some good choices by the glass. Service is professional. Open for dinner only and extremely busy on Fri and Sat nights.

Undoubtedly the BEST Filet Mignon on the planet. Been to RC's in NY, Vegas and Florida. I always order medium rare with extra butter, then cut it in 1/2 and let it sizzle on the plate, for that extra ooze :) Have had everything on the menu...all side dishes are incredible. The only thing that doesn't tickle my fancy are the desserts...All commercial, not worth the calories...and then again...It's a steakhouse and NOT a bakery. 2 thumbs way up!

For those in search of the perfect steak; look no further. The atmoshpere and service are exceptional. It is nice to discover that here at Ruth Crists, proper attire is desired.

excellent meal

We visited recently for a special occasion after deciding never to visit Bern's again after getting lousy food and rude service there. Ruth's Chris is so much better any day. Our meal was fantastic. The steaks were piping hot and charred outside and tender inside and moist. Our meal was sheer heaven at Ruth Chris. I had a sirloin strip and the others had filets. All were delicious. You must share the sides because they are large. Everything served was piping hot and delicious. Creamed spinach, steak fries, etc. Salads also excellent. It was expensive as expected but cant be beat for a special occasion. Its also a class above and better than Flemings which we also tried.
