If ever there were a culinary misnomer, Jackson's Bistro would be it. For starters, it ain't small. Between the chic, fine dining restaurant and ultra-hipster lounge, Jackson's covers more than 20,000 square feet of prime real estate. And speaking of real estate, Jackson's doesn't fit the out-of-the-way criterion for bistros, either. Located adjacent to the Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel, Jackson's is practically impossible to miss. Also impossible to miss: the sea of sharply dressed singles (ah, so many fish in the sea) looking to mingle on Jackson's expansive outdoor deck -- or the throng of upscale diners each sipping one of Jackson's 500 available wines or supping on high-end dishes such as seared duck breast, pistachio-crusted red snapper, oak-grilled steak or its famed sushi.

The most appetizing thing at Jackson's, however, isn't even on the menu. It's the restaurant's view. Overlooking the harbor and the Tampa skyline, Jackson's is the epitome of outdoor dining and the perfect ending to an exquisite meal, although some would argue the raspberry macadamia nut pie comes awfully close.

Be sure to show up for the famed Sunday brunch - a reasonably priced, all-you-can-eat affair. Chefs whip up everything from gourmet pasta dishes to decadent waffles right before your eyes. And other highlights include carved meats, a sushi station, smoked salmon, a salad bar and homemade bananas foster for dessert. The last seating is at 2:30PM.

I've been here for casual occasions, and for a special birthday. Everytime, they get it right. The menu choice is great, service is excellent, and the food is phenominal. Plan on going back tomorrow night for Valentine's Day.

The Sushi was phenomenal. I couldn't have enough. They have the best sushi in Tampa. I would recomend this place to anyone.

  • Awesome Friday Night!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   whatsuptampa - 12/27/2006

Went there on a Friday night for a drink and stayed for hours… I have never seen anything like it in Tampa. Different Rooms, Great DJs, Shows, a Huge waterfront patio with rental cabanas. This place gives Miami a run for their money. I will go back as often as wife will let me and maybe bring her too. Great Party!

I was vacationing in Florida. Went for lunch on Sunday at Jacksons. I was pleased with the food. The best part of the meal was our waitress. She was so friendly. She was from Poland. I have never meet such wonderful person. She made me feel proud to be an American. Jacksons should be proud to her. She is a great waitress!!! I travel to the Tampa area several times a year. I will be back . I do recommend that if anyone reads this, try this restaurant and ask for the waitress Kasia.

  • Awful

    Review rating : 2out of 5   unblvblzee - 02/24/2006

We went here New Years Eve with another couple, husband and I had surf & turf, meat was okay but the lobster tail was chewy and tasteless. My friend had some pasta dish that was so bad she didn't eat more than 2 bites and our server didn't even take notice and ask her. Desserts were awful too....our bill for 4 was $260 - we could have gone anywhere in Tampa for that price and had FAR better food and service! We will never go here again.
I've heard the bar area is fun but I am done with that scene...

  • One of Tampa's Best

    Review rating : 5out of 5   patrickm98 - 01/04/2006

This is really one of the best restaurants in Tampa. Not a bad place for nightlife either. Everything I've ever tasted on the menu is great, especially their seafood selections. Sushi is also very good, and the prices on their rolls are quite reasonable. You'll find cheaper sushi at Jacksons than pretty much anyplace else in South Tampa.

Brunch is also great. Everything you would typically expect from a Sunday brunch, plus extras such as sushi and various lunch selections. Again, the price is quite reasonable. The only comparable Sunday brunch in Tampa is at Oystercatchers, and it's almost twice as expensive.

  • Awesome

I started coming here for the big Fantasy Friday events and found a gem. It is much more than the hot hip place to be on Friday nights. The restaurant has great food and reasonable prices. I have always had great meals. Great place to bring a group of busniess clients. The bar is a cool place to hang other nights than Friday's. Big patio with lots of tv's to watch sports.
