Named for the phrase that means "gorgeous" in Chinese, Hao Wah merited its name with a most-attractive remodel in 2002. It transformed from a strip-mall dive to a spacious and sleek restaurant, one with hardwood furniture and curves, a meld of classic and modern you'd find in a young prince's royal quarters. The menu includes a wide variety of sushi and Vietnamese cuisines, and the lunch and dinner buffets are among the best around, with a higher-caliber of quality than the cafeteria-style Chinese budget stops. At lunch time, it's a challenge to find a parking space as South Tampa professionals pile in to devour all they can eat. The buffet items are neither goopy nor overheated, but freshly sauteed stir-fried dishes, crispy egg rolls, hot soups and decadent cream cheese rangoons.
