Billing itself as Tampa's 'First Upscale, All-You-Can-Eat Japanese Buffet,' Crazy Buffet offers a pleasant departure from the Asian smorgasbords that dot strip malls throughout the city. You may pay a little more, but in return, you'll enjoy a more upscale ambience, exponentially better quality and (surprise!) as much Chinese food as Japanese.
First-timers get the tour, with friendly hostesses pointing the way to the salad bar, the potsticker station, the de rigueur crab legs, sushi bar and desserts. The star of the show is the stir-fry and hibachi bar. You'll only get one pass for stir-fry, but you can stuff yourself on hibachi items to your heart's content. Ask the staff what they enjoy here; they'll often direct you to esoteric dishes that you may have overlooked. -- Lisa Galloway

Overpriced, overdressed buffet
This place is an over-priced, overly-americanized Asian food buffet behind a facade of five-star decorations. Anyone who has a taste for authentic Korean, Thai, or Japaniese food will not find much to their liking in this restaurant. I could count the buffet items I liked on one hand when I tried about 40 things. The restaurant was so busy and the buffet was always being picked over, yet a lot of the food was cold. And I was expecting to find maybe some Pad Thai or Bulgolgi since it said they served Thai and Korean, but there was nothing like that to be found. The sushi is probably the best part of the restaurant because they have such an abundance, but even it is not wonderful. The have a great variety of fish and other seafood, but it sits out for so long on the buffet that everything is cold, including the stuff that is not supposed to be. The worst piece of sushi I tried was their spicy tuna roll, which I got the feeling they made out of canned tuna (you'll know what I mean if you try it). But what about dessert? They've got really good cheesecake, they had a mango cake that wasn't bad, and they had some interesting egg tarts. But! They had ice cream. Can't mess that up right? Wrong.. the ice cream is kept in an ice cream freezer, which any diner may dip a scooper into. Or, if they wish, their dirty hands. It just didn't seem sanitary at all to me. However, they had a nice clean frozen yogurt dispenser, which is what I stuck with. To sum it up, if you've acquired a taste for authentic Asian cuisine, the Crazy Buffet is not at all for you. And even if your taste only reaches to cheap Chinese buffets or take-out, you should avoid this place for your wallet's sake. Any other Asian buffet will probably have the same quality food and you only have to pay about as much as you would pay for a child at the Crazy Buffet, which is pretty cheap.
Great buffet
Excellent quality food for a buffet. Food turnover was so fast that everything looked and tasted fresh (a big problem at many asian buffets). Kids loved the variety.
decent, but not worth it..
The atmosphere is amazing, so large and fancy looking but still has a good sense of privacy. Great service (drinks seemed to magically refill themselves anytime we left the table lol) and large selection. That would be where the compliments end. Altho beautiful, there doesn't seem to be too much of a real variety compared to other buffets, and altho they have many different kinds of sushi, they all seem to be pretty alike. nothing real new or unique. Way too expensive to eat there for just atmosphere. I could pay the same ammount or less and go to a real nice sushi bar or pay a lot less and go to a normal buffet who would have more and better food. If you have the money to waste, go for it... it's alright.. but nothing special in the end and not a place i would reccomend.
