Colorful, zany and welcoming, Skyway Jack's is a South St. Pete favorite, founded in 1976 by a retired Navy man. Seating is available for 100 people in a cozy layout of plain tables and booths. Regulars run the gamut from families, senior citizens and hungover singles, to no-nonsense fishermen and cell-phone-yapping yuppies. A 6-foot "chicken" statue outside beckons hungry risers, along with a kooky arrangement of porcelain pigs, stuffed animals, clocks, weathervanes and signs bearing matter-of-fact witticisms, such as, "If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen."
With mostly traditional breakfast and lunch items, there are a few standouts, including eggs Florentine, scrambled pork brains and Southern French toast with cream cheese, orange marmalade, pecans and honey-orange sauce. Service is fast and friendly. -- Julie Garisto

dwgdag515 - 06/28/2007My husband has been going there for over 20 years. We visited Florida two years ago (2005) and went to the old location and was very disappointed that it wasn't there. We have just recently visited Florida / St Pete area and was pleasantly suprised to find it on Highway 19 (34th St South). We asked our son every morning where he would like to go for breakfast and the answer was always "SKYWAY JACKS". If you want a HUGE breakfast at a very reasonable price with a GREAT atmosphere your search ends at SKYWAY JACKS.
