With one of the best views in Tampa Bay, British mainstay Moon Under Water offers a glowing display of the St. Petersburg waterfront and nearby Museum of Fine Arts from its downtown, chichi Beach Drive location. Outside, it's like Miami Beach or the Riviera. Sit at an umbrella table on the patio and gaze at the moonlight hitting Tampa Bay -- a lovely reminder of the restaurant's namesake. The interior decor, on the other hand, recalls a London pub with a royal makeover. It sets a comfy, Old World-elegant mood with mahogany furniture and a fireplace.
The food also reflects the traditions of United Kingdom cuisine met with the famous foods of the empire's colonial conquests: fish and chips, shepherd's pies, curries and Mediterranean favorites such as hummus and tabouli. Contemporary American accents round out the selection, with hearty and healthy items such as burgers, wraps and salads. A bigger than average selection of European beers are on tap for the many regulars who just pop in for a pint. The clientele is eclectic -- Northeast St. Pete residents, European tourists, retirees and families. The experience of visiting Moon Underwater likewise presents a great mix of cultures and traditions.

This actually does reflect the Best of British!

For those insular people who've never traveled or experienced other than American food or American beer, perhaps this isn't for you. Likewise, if you expect not to have to tip your servers, this also isn't for you, either.
If, however, you've traveled or are open to exciting and authentic tastes, this is definitely for you.
The beer selection is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful (the bar tenders are the wittiest in Tampa Bay - ask Brent or Eddie, and they will have you in stitches!)
The food is varied and extremely good, even though they serve pita bread in lieu of nahn bread with curries. (The regular curry is genuine Madras flavor, ask one of their Indian customers!).
The owners, Alan, Suzanne & Mark will do anything for you.
All in all - a truly Great British experience, that all except the few whiners enjoy!
Allen & Sandy have been going there for 13 years - never once was there anything bad to report.Add CommentRickster
Worst burger I ever had. Tasted like someone added a cup of salt to the beef. Waitress was useless. When I asked her if this was normal, she said she couldn't help because "I don't eat burgers". Isn't that her job to know the menu? The fish and chips were okay.
nicest spot in st pete
always a friendly crowed, good menu ,good service what else can one ask for?
GREAT
The Moon is a must stop for my wife and
I at least once a month. Good food, service
and a fun place.Something for Everyone
Locals love this place, but it's a great place to bring folks from out of town, especially those who love the beer pub atmosphere. The eclectic menu makes it easy to please everyone. For example, I love fish and chips but my son and his wife love the curries. It's not just British food, but food from the former British commonwealth and the U.S., too. The great downtown location, atomosphere, and good food makes this place tough to beat.
Bad Food & Service, Expensive

My wife and I brought another couple to your restaurant just before Christmas.
This was our first visit.
The food was served warm and my wifeÂs meal was not cooked completely.
Our waitress, Heather, had to work to make it acceptable. She could probably tell we were not happy with the service or the food.
When we got our check she had added 18% gratuity.
We were a table of 4 with our 4 week old daughter and our 18 month old son.
We were told that a table of 6 adds gratuity automatically even if the kids did not order a meal.
I wonÂt be back, the couple that joined us wonÂt be back, and everyone we tell probably wonÂt go there either.
So Heather ... Was it worth the few extra dollars in your pocket to cause the loss of future revenue and the damage to your employerÂs reputation???THIS PLACE IS ON THE WATER!!
and the staff actually fish and trap loggerhead turtles here for their specials.I had the turtles soup the other day and it was excellent.dont let anyone tell it isnt fresh.it is.
next spring they are going to serve fresh manatee steaks when they come back into the bay.i cant wait.
you must try this wonderfull restaurant at least once. Not Indian
This is a british pub folks who do a poor imitation of what we were told by our waiter was "British-style" Indian food. Yuck! They seved my wife sliced pita bread and called it naan.Stick to the beer even this place can't screw it up!
Definitely Different
I have lunch here with friends now and then. A nice place to relax outside when weather is cool. Salads are excellent, and specials of the day are usually good. Everyone should try it at least once. Not for children - menu is not meant for kids. This is more of an adult, or date-night eatery. Get there early for dinner or lunch. Limited seating outside. The only downside is the noise from traffic because it sits right on the street.
