Shorty's, a Miami tradition since 1951, has people lining up on a nightly basis for some of the city's best barbecue. Hardly fancy and nothing like its neon-lit neighbors, this BBQ shack is known for succulent ribs and chicken, smoke-flavored, slow-cooked and soaked in a delicious sauce. Everything here is a la carte, and side dishes such as coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans and French fries are requisite for the complete experience. When it comes to pomp and circumstance, Shorty's is no nonsense, with plastic plates, plastic cutlery and paper napkins. Not quite South Carolina BBQ but not bad!
Sarahcoralgables - 06/11/2008Being born and raised on South Carolina Red Vinger based BBQ Shorty's is the best that I have found in South Florida. Like the no frills dinning style just wish that they would use a better/stronger grade of plastic forks. Loved our waitress at the South Dixie location.

Alintjen - 06/06/2008We went to SHorty's on Deerfield, ALWAYS SATISFIED everytime we eat there. I took my friend to eat there, and she's agreed. I even wrote a letter to the manager how we satisfied with the food and the services. No wonder Shorty's is VOTED for best BBQ resto.

Original location and new Deerfield Beach a major disappointment. Davie leaves the rest in dust chicken , ribs. Overall best value for dollar add the coupons to it you can not beat

Forredneck - 06/06/2008Grew up on Shorty's and yes, it is good, but NO comparison to Shivers! Their Babyback ribs are unbelievable and their choice of sides and platters you can't beat. Have been eating there over 30 years and recommend it to anyone who wants terrific BBQ and a great friendly atmosphere. You never leave a stranger.

I have eaten there for the last 30 years and think they have the best baby back ribs period! The cole slaw is also very good. The atmoshpere is great and everyone is very friendly! I highly recommend Shivers to anyone who hasnt been there

CoachBoo23 - 06/06/2008It is amazing to me that Shiver's BBQ in Homestead Florida was not a choice for best bbq in South Florida. It, like Shortys, has been around for over 50 years. It is by far the best BBQ. I grew up eating at Shivers and they have the best spare ribs and baby back ribs anywhere. Their cole slaw is the best cole slaw I have ever eaten. The owners are always there and love to talk to their customers too! Give em a try!
