Ever since South Miami got hip to the idea of sidewalk seating, this neighborhood favorite tripled in traffic. Always ideal for excellent, fresh lunches, Deli Lane, with its outdoor sidewalk addition under a shady awning, has become a breakfast and brunch hot spot for locals looking to linger at a table for a leisurely meal and scenic sidewalk activity. Eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, omelets, fruit salads and pancakes are top-notch here. The service is efficient, but laid-back, just like the clientele. If you're looking for quick service and no scenery, go to McDonald's, because part of Deli Lane's allure is its relaxed pace. Two of the cafe's must-have breakfast items are the fruit salad (with signature honey-yogurt dressing and fresh muffin) and the cheese grits. -- Lesley Abravanel

  • Sucky Service

I don't know what to say. They are pet friendly and the food is good, so they won my heart. But be ready wait and be patient with ALL the mistakes! The waiters can't take a good order to save their life, and rarely do you go without some feeling of frustration. Waiting for your syrup while your waffle gets cold. Waiting for your dressing for your salad. Waiting for your toast. Waiting for a refill. In a group, your food never comes out together. There's always one poor person left waiting while everyone else eats. Hope their food stays good--it's what keeps me going back every weekend, but always with a feeling not wanting to deal with it!

  • Great food, meh service.

  • A Deli Lane in every city

    Review rating : 4out of 5   chasfinchiii - 04/25/2006

There should be a Deli Lane in every city. Simply a great and affordable place to eat breakfast. Omelets and fruit pancakes are the best choices on the menu. Cheese grits too. Get there before 9 am, though, especially on weekends. The place fills up, inside and out. Bring your newspaper if you like. Dog walkers love to go there because they can sit outside. Try it, you'll like it...

  • First I Land, Then I Eat

    Review rating : 4out of 5   genemean - 12/23/2005

I fly into Miami about once a month. I make it my business to get there the night before, so I get a chance to eat at Deli Lane for breakfast. Their breakfast special is about $4 and includes, great grits, eggs, bacon or other meat, as well as toast.

You can't beat the price, the ambience of sidewalk dining in the morning and watching the cute women exercising nearby or going to work.

The only issue I have is not with the restaurant, but with the Miami culture of customers bringing their dogs with them to dine outside. I have no desire to eat with an animal (no matter how cute the owner thinks it is) near me or my food. Again, this is a habit at almost all restaurants with a street patio.

When I have company from up North I bring them to Deli Lane Cafe for breakfast at least once durning their stay. Can't beat the great food at a very resonable price.

  • Think Twice

    Review rating : 1out of 5   cynthiab314 - 03/02/2005

I work in the building where the other Deli Lane is located at...its in Downtown. I order from them under EXTREME circumstances. Truthfully if they don't use too much spices then they use too little. I think their fruit salad is horrible. Some of their bread/muffins are OK. I will only eat there if I really am tied down at work.

  • Great food, Bad service

    Review rating : 3out of 5   venus1305 - 12/27/2004

The food is excellent and I could eat there every day. There is a lot of variety. The only bad thing (from the two times I've been) was the service. Their employees seemed depressed and were unattentive.
