If you've been on the O-town nightlife scene long enough, you've probably seen at least one band go from no-name to fame thanks to a gig at The Social. Formerly the Sapphire Supper Club, this intimate live music venue in the heart of downtown's party district has been the prime place to get discovered in Orlando for more than a decade. And plenty of big name acts -- NRBQ, Ozomatli, the Reverend Horton Heat, to name just a few -- have also taken to the stage, here. There's live music most nights, and the regular Tuesday night Phat 'n Jazzy gig (a down-tempo evening of jazzy hip-hop and nouveau soul featuring resident DJs BMF and Slack) is one of O-town's longest-running club nights.
Drinks are stiff, and the innovative martini menu qualifies The Social as one of the best martini bars in town, in addition to its status as a top live music venue. The atmosphere and crowds are equally eclectic. Rustic meets artistic in the decor theme. Exposed bricks and art glass lamps pair with open-rafter ceilings and a flowing bar that fronts on the intimate stage. Depending on the band, you're just as likely to find yourself sharing one of the high tables along the stage with a young punk rocker as a thirtysomething southern rock fan.

worst has been club of orlando
I loved this place when it was sapphire supper club, but since the good old days the vibe of this place has gotten more and more pretensious and with nothing to back it up. The only reason people congregate here is to see national acts and popular local bands. The stage is too small, and the bathrooms are always disgusting. I would only go here if I was able to get in for free. The beer is usually warm and the Sound guy is always clueless.
Add Commenthappiness
This place is amazing. The music is always new and refreshing, and you can truly see the talent in every artist who comes through. The setting, I think is the best part. Some think it is too small but if you get there in time you can be up close and personal with your band in this intimate setting :)
Social
Nothing special and is a small venue. Saw Boxelder and the sound was good. Had a hidden bar in the back which was nice...
:-)
My first to the social was over the summer. It was actually my first show- Pepper! It was an awesome show. The social on the other hand is very small and cramed, i was sitting at the bar watching the show while some fat guy tripped and landed on my lap. It was not cool, but all in all a great experience. Been back a few times since, great unknown talents, keep it up.
CBGB's Orlando
The best place to hear great local bands and underground national bands. Everyone from the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and the Black Keys to Sonic Youth and Robby Krieger. I've seen so many great shows here it's hard to pick a favorite.
