Johnny and Anthony, New York City natives, opened this Orlando outpost, consistently voted the best pizza in Central Florida. Their trendy little eatery in Thornton Park offers outdoor tables, a small dining room and an expansive menu of Italian specialties, from spaghetti and meatballs to stuffed calzones.

Most of the patrons are there for the pizza. It has a crust just thick enough for folding sandwich-style, a light red sauce and plenty of mozzarella cheese. There are toppings galore, 18 in all, from fresh garlic to pineapple, but for purists, the simple pepperoni pie may be the best thing on the menu.

Also popular are the hefty calzones and the Bianco pizza with mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, fresh garlic and olive oil. The kitchen also turns out delicious hot and cold subs, salads and pastas. Because the restaurant sits close to a public school, city laws don't allow beer or wine to be sold. You might opt for takeout so you can pour a cold brew to truly enjoy Anthony's New York-style pies. -- Pam Brandon

  • Poor Service and NOT the best pizza by far.

    Review rating : 1out of 5   coolgabby9 - 10/19/2009

I've been to Anthony's more than once and every time the service is absolutely horrendous. I'm not picky when it comes to pizza, but the canned tomatoes for a margarita pizza is not what I consider quality. It's not the food that has stopped me from going back though. It's the bad waitresses. Server Amanda is so rude. Management never responded back after I had concerns. Over-all there are so many good pizza places around, like Mellow Mushroom, Gino's, or Brick and Fire. Save yourself time and money and go else where.

My favorite for years seems to have changed for the worse. The pie was not nearly as good. Even with a sparse crowd, the service was extremely slow and inconsiderate.

  • NY NOT!!!!

    Review rating : 2out of 5   kinglouix - 02/23/2005

The 2 stars is for atmosphere because that is all this butchered copy of NY PIZZA boasts. The tomato sauce tasted like battery acid, they clearly use cheap canned tomato paste. Brooklyn Pizza on Fairbanks is much better!!

It's NY Pizza. If ya like NY style pizza, you'll love Anthony's. If you prefer Chicago style...go elsewhere.

Metro Espresso has a better tasting pie, and even that one leaves much to be desired. Antonio's...now that's a pie! Just be near a restroom afterwards.
