Pepperoni-faced kids attending Edgewater High no longer have to scarf down the mediocre pepperoni pizzas at Alfonso's during their lunch break, not with this hip and stylish chain beckoning College Park's lonely teenage broncin' bucks. The pizzeria plays up its rock 'n' roll roots with album covers and concert murals emblazoned on the walls, but follow the guitar imbued on the floor to get to a wall-mounted list of the goods offered. You'll find your fair share of sandwiches, salads, wings, wraps, calzones and pasta dishes, but it's the New York-style pizza that's the main draw. The hand-tossed circles of dough can be topped with pedestrian and gourmet items, but either way you slice it, the result is a tomato-sweet, herbaceous pie with a crust that's at once crispy and flaky. And if you're the kind of person who enjoys cold pizza for breakfast, AP's slices hold up nicely the following day.

For the more cosmopolitan diner, rectangular flatbreads like the Spin City Flats, with spinach, artichokes, tomato and mozzarella cheese in a creamy bechamel sauce, are also available. The wings are wholly average, the accompanying hot sauce barely registering a bite, but the chicken parmigiana sandwich (dubbed the 'Louie Di Palma') is a zesty, marinara-ladened hoagie that completely satisfies. Dare yourself to finish the doughy American apple pie, then lament your reason for ordering it. If you don't like distractions when you eat, this likely isn't the place for you. Music videos beam on the big screen and scores of flat screens air everything from news to sports. Wireless PlayStation controllers are in every booth if you happen to be a gaming fanatic. Thursday nights feature Cafe Shorts -- a program of award-winning short films presented throughout your meal. By the way, the have both counter and table service, though the former will result in quicker delivery of your order, even if you plan on eating at the restaurant.

Their pizza really isn't that good. And to compare it to New York style pizza is a joke.

I like it. I Iike it a lot. I didn`t think so, but so what if he was a litte intoxicated during the recording. I`m sure a lot of others were too at the Iron Horse Saloon. Drinkin` just goes along with a David Allan Coe show. But remember good ol` boys don`t drink and drive. OldDangerous@aol.com

Short of New York City, this is the best pizza I've ever had. The atmosphere is great and the flat screen tv's are an awesome touch. I can't wait for the Pinellas Park location to open so I can frequent American Pie more often.

  • Another Chain! Fool the masses

Visited the JYPKWY store. Ambience was pretty good....but thats were the good ended. You can tell the dough is not fresh and money is being saved by the smallest amount of cheese being put on a pizza.(maybe 4 oz on a 16" pie). This store is built to attract kids who don't really care about taste and freshness, hence the free video games.
