When it comes to the utterly addictive garlic rolls, Mario the Baker has become Super Mario. An unassuming Southern Italian restaurant, Mario the Baker has become as much a Miami landmark as Joe, the stone crab king. A family favorite, especially on Sunday nights, Mario the Baker is a mob scene -- not in the 'Sopranos' sense of the word -- that never fails to attract hungry northeastern expats looking for their fill of thin-crust pizzas topped high with meatballs, olives, peppers, mushrooms and, of course, pepperoni. And while pizza is definitely a big draw here, other classic Italian restaurant items such as meatball heroes, sausage and peppers, baked ziti and a fantastic lasagna are what keep people coming back for more on a regular basis. Noisy, to say the least, a meal at Mario the Baker is not unlike attending a very lively Italian family gathering. -- Lesley Abravanel

This pizza is junk, but in fainess to Mario, good pizza in this town simply does not exist. Rustica on 10th and Washington used to be ok but quaility has declined.

  • marios is aight

    Review rating : 3out of 5   misspreciousm - 09/13/2007

i have to defend marios... i moved here about 6months ago from New Jersey..... there is a huge itlalian community and there is italian food literally on every corner. and Marios reminds me of the food back home .... its true, well it may not be gourmet pizza, ive had 50 dollar pizza pie's in hoboken...but for the price it is aight...... and it is pretty damn good for miami. I mean, one time i ordered mozarella sticks from some place on the beach and they gave me salsa with them instead of marinara. so considering all of my italian food experiences in miami, marios is good. your average pizza joint from up north i guess. grab lunch or a quick dinner.... i am glad marios is here.

  • WORLDS BEST PIZZA

    Review rating : 5out of 5   tiazaida - 08/16/2007

IF YOU WANT A SLICE OF REAL NEW YORK PIZZA YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE OR AT THEIR OTHER LOCATIONS. I'm a relocated New Yorker and haven't found a better place to eat real Italian food. I grew up in an almost all Italian neighborhood in Queens and know what real home cooked Italian food is and what it should taste like. So if you want to have a dining treat go to any of their locations esp the one on Bird Road and Red Road (57th Ave). Your taste buds will love you for it.

  • Hey... "world's best pizza"

    Review rating : 1out of 5   jaygee97 - 05/03/2007

You've got to be out of your mind buddy?!? Being a New Yorker, you should be ashamed of yourself to post such a thing... look at the pie in the picture?!? I can make a better pie in my kitchen at home. I guess being you're from Queens it's permisable, but this place isn't even remotely close to Ny pizza, it's disgusting! How did this even make the list... poor misled people of South Florida.

  • GREAT PIZZA AND GREAT PEOPLE

    Review rating : 5out of 5   slp080 - 03/11/2007

I've had the pleasure of eating at Mario's in Miami and the added honor of meeting the man behind the success, Sal, he has taken this historic piezzeria to new heights and his vision of the future is a marvel. A Mario the Baker in every South Florida city and still maintain the quality and ambience of the original.
Buona Fortuna to Sal and his staff
