The CNN of restaurants, News Cafe was the first all-food, all-the-time outpost to hit South Beach's sandy shores back when the only alternative was a decrepit Denny's. Now practically a South Beach landmark, this bustling Ocean Drive cafe-cum-newsstand remains as crowded as it was when it was the only game in town. A place to see and be seen, News Cafe satisfies most cravings, with an impressive list of sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizzas and exotic, Middle Eastern fare. Dessert is also good, especially when you're seeking a slice of chocolate cake and coffee.     Too much attitude all around, customers and staff included. Too much money for what you get. Tomato salad, 4 slices of tomato only 7.95. Too much time to get served that is once they realize your there. Just too much

    Best all around. Great location (sit outside) and food! We went once for breakfast (salmon omelet was great) and once for lunch (great chicken/mushroom). Even though it was busy, the service was friendly, w/ immediate seating.

    The only thing this place has is location. The prices are double what they should be, and the quality only average. service poor. $12 for a cheeseburger and $2.50 for REGULAR coffee. Ridiculous!
    Gee, how did it rate number one. Maybe it has something to do with being owned by a local celebrity.

    If its a view you want, you can do better than News Cafe. But if its food and service then STAY AWAY. The food is at best average and the service is consistently terrible.

    i ate breakfast at the place once it was great the prizes are a bit more than denny's but well worth it only the service could of been better still waiting to go back one day

    When I take out of town friends on a tour of Miami, we stop at Calle Ocho for lunch and have to stop @ the News Cafe for dessert and coffee. S-o-o-o very South Beach right on Ocean Drive. Sit outside on the sidewalk, order an espresso and dessert (try the bread pudding or the soft serve yogurt with fresh fruit) and watch the South Beach world go by. A real South Florida thing. At night, the place is packed but the line moves. Try not to go inside - too hot. Service is South Beach spotty.
