Compared to the rest of the world, Americans have some serious problems with portion control. And nowhere is this phenomenon more obvious than at Buca di Beppo, a family-style restaurant specializing in immigrant Southern Italian cooking. From pizzas "as big as bathmats" to meatballs "as big as your head" to the chicken cacciatore (alternately titled, "Seven Pounds of Love") the Buca is all about strapping on the feedbag. Entrees, which include the usual lasagna, spaghetti, ravioli and chicken, are meant to serve two to five people, though doggie bags are the norm.
The food isn't the only thing that's big at the Buca. Though you wouldn't know it from its non-descript brick exterior, Buca's interior -- homage to the Italian-American supper clubs of the '40s and '50s -- makes a huge impression with floor-to-ceiling photos (Sophia Loren is a popular subject), tacky travel souvenirs, and more crusty old tchotchkes than your grandmother could collect in 10 lifetimes. With incredi-bubbly servers and themed tables like the Pope's Table and the Kitchen Table (located smack-dab in the middle of Buca's kitchen), even the atmosphere is larger-than-life. -- Kerry Speckman

you must be joking
A family restaurant? And on the "best" list?? You must be joking. Considering the ridiculous waits and the steep prices (for spaghetti!), this restaurant hardly rates "best" at anything except annoyance. Perhaps it's "family friendly" because everything I had there tasted like the prefab canned version. I definitely won't go back, and I've been twice.

Excellent place for a large group
They are not kidding about the portions! Too much food! We held a bridal shower there with 15 people and could not have finished a single item if we tried! All the dishes were great, but in quantities that could feed small countries. The decorations are ecclectic and unique. My only complain is that is is a bit loud in there. Probably would not recommend for a "romantic" dinner for two, but great place for groups and families.
Great for Wedding rehearsal dinners
We had both of our daughters dinners at Bucca and enjoyed each location Winter Park and Florida Mall locations.

Delicious, affordable
Huge portions, perfect for large groups, and delicious food. The chicken Parmesan is particularly delightful, topped with a garnish of tomato, red onion, and prosciutto, and surrounded with their delightfully tangy marinara. Their other dishes are also wonderful. The prices are reasonable, as well. My husbandÂs birthday party, with 12 people, cost less than $130.
Yum, Yum
The food is so delicious and the service is wonderful. The ambiance of the restaurant is great, especially if you go with a large group of people. Size portions are more than adequate, no matter if you go with 10 people or on a romantic date. My husband and I love going here so much, we simply cannot wait for a special event to go. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good food at a reasonable price!
