It's hard to imagine the Prince of Jordan sucking down a slice in a Pittsburgh pizza parlor, but alas, it happened, not at Pizza Hut or Papa John's, but at Primanti Brothers. And South Floridians needn't be of royal descent to enjoy a slice of pizza that's fit for a prince.

Thankfully, this Pennsylvania landmark decided to go south, not just for the winter, but every day, 24-7. Perfect for satisfying the late-night munchies, lunch, dinner or even breakfast, Primanti Brothers' Fort Lauderdale outpost, like its Pennsylvania sibling, is actually best known for their famous sandwiches, ones that make Dagwood's quadruple deckers look like Blondie put him on a diet.

But since Philly cheesesteaks aren't exactly a Florida menu mainstay, the Primanti Brothers expanded their menu to include their 'Almost Famous Pizza,' which, judging by the taste of it, should have dropped the 'Almost' from its name a long time ago. Just as decadent as Primanti's mammoth sandwiches, the pizza is a heaping pie of cheese, sauce and crust that can be custom-made to anyone's tastes with an unabridged assortment of toppings and seasonings. Now, when people ask what Pittsburgh's got to offer besides the Steelers and the Andy Warhol Museum, the answer is apparent.

  • Not Homophobic !

    Review rating : 5out of 5   ericplan - 01/26/2007

All of the policies & procedure in the world will not stop every jerk from making a rude comment. How a company's owner REACTS to the comment is what matters most.
The owner of Primanti Bros. is a generous, humble man who has given support for many causes in our gay community & for Wilton Manors in general. If You had told him or ANY of the managers about the incident, the employee would have been fired while you stood there!!!
You are mistaken my friend. Go speak to them. They'll fix it, they want you there!!!! Someone who knows......

  • Homophobes work here!

    Review rating : 1out of 5   elliemaes61 - 01/05/2007

One of my friend's highly recommended Primanti Brothers to me. I've eaten there a couple of times and was impressed with the pricing, the food was pretty good.

On another visit there, my friend overheard a waiter making a homophobic remark regarding one of the customers. Considering the fact that Primanti Brother's just happens to be situated in a very Gay/Gay-Friendly area I was really appalled!

I have to tell you that we've spread the word throughout the community not to further frequent this hotbed of intolerance and discrimination. Y'all have lost our business!

  • GET IT STRAIGHT!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   rwodnicki - 01/05/2007

First of all, Primantis makes a UNIQUE sandwich
NOT a Philly Cheesesteak!!! Not even close.
Fresh italian bread, fries and coleslaw with different meats
    and combinations.

They bought out the pizzeria on the Ft. Laud. beach
    (which is pretty damn good!)

    Pittsburgh Primanti's doesn't sell pizza.

  • red rock pizza

    Review rating : 3out of 5   devon3746 - 06/11/2006

Primanti Brother's pizza is "good" at best...Their subs such as peppers and onions, meatballs and chicken parmigani are terrifc...
The best pizza place in all of South Florida is Red Rock Pizza...the menu basically consists of three items, namely pizza, chicken wings and salad...The pizza and chicken are cooked in a coal oven...The pizza is crisp, slightly burnt and thin...When you order a regular pizza, unlike others, Red Rock uses Buffalo Mozzarela which is cut into cubes and placed on the dough...When it melts, the pizza looks like a puddle a melted vanilla ice cream covered in red sauce...The chicken wings are also made in the coal oven and are served on top of a loaf of fresh backed "submarine style" bread and both the bread and chicken are covered in cameralized onions and garlic cloves...There are several salads that come in family-style portions that are crisp and fresh...

Red Rock is the best pizza place that you will find...try and you will see that although Primanti is good it is just a standard run of the mill pizza place when compared to Red Rock.

  • NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING GOOD!

    Review rating : 1out of 5   nativeftlaud - 04/24/2006

First, went for Philly's (cheesesteaks) and to check out pizza. They DON'T do Philly's! The pizza - average. Asked about the Italian dishes - waitress told us that NONE were made on the premises - (they just put them in the oven). She couldn't even tell us what was in the lasagna. We ate outside - dirty sidewalk (they could at least sweep it once in a while). Garbage can was overflowing and tables were smushed around the outside stairwell to the Thai restaurant upstairs. It was horrible. BEST PIZZA IN THREE COUNTIES IS STILL "RIVERFRONT PIZZA" - downtown Ft. Lauderdale at the Riverwalk. Only way this place could qualify as being good is after a night of drinking - when you don't care! I won't go again and will tell others "don't bother".

    Review rating : 5out of 5   sungator24 - 03/09/2006

Not only do they have pizza via Pittsburgh, they also have EVERYTHING SANDWICHES via Pittaburgh as well; even the french fries atop your order. What a mouthful.
