The menu hallmark is meat -- steak and prime rib in particular - at this Florida steakhouse chain run by three generations of the Seltzer family. The Clearwater location is easy to spot, with its mini herd of full-size plaster cow statues grazing in the front yard. But the kitsch stops there. The food is pure carnivore class, all the way.
Appetizers include typical offerings such as fried onion, breaded mushrooms and mozzarella sticks, as well as more gourmet picks such as coconut shrimp and softshell crab. Every steakhouse has its calling card, and here the prime rib - the one-pound cut, served au jus, is as indulgent as a meat lover can get. Other aged cuts include a 20-oz. Porterhouse and 16-oz New York Strip. There's seafood, too, such as blackened salmon and twin cold water lobster tails with drawn butter. And side dishes seem also beside the point here, considering the huge portions of meat, but surely you can make room for creamed spinach, steak fries or garlic mash.

Add CommentTAMPA STEAK HOUSE AT WORST

THIS IS A COMMERICAL LOW QUALITY RESTAURANT. THERE ARE MANY CHAIN STEAK HOUSES WITH MUCH BETTER FOOD SUCH AS LONGHORN,OUTBACK CODYS ETC. WHY PICK THE WORST UNLESS YOU WANT LARGE PORTIONS OF POOR FOOD.
Sarasota Sam good

Sometimes too much noise in front, but food has usually been good. Had to send back at least once, but they replaced withouit complaint.Often management comes around to make sure we are satisfied. Sometimes hard to get attention of waiter. Rolls remain good. Salads and side dishes excellent and steaks almost as good as couple of years ago..
Sam's in Sarasota
Years ago when we first drove the 15 miles from Bradenton to the Sarasota Sam's it was worth the trip, but over the years, especially this last year when the quality went to h..., and the service went with it, we need to find another steak place. The salad is the best thing there. We always order the filet and it has become smaller, tasteless and dry. It's not a pretty piece of meat. Lately we have not even been able to get a hot tasty baked or sweet potato. The meat has rarely been hot. One of the times I sent the filet back to be heated, it was returned to the table and practically thrown at me. The rolls keep changing, and not for the better.
trying to reinvent themselves

Sloppy management on all levels and poor maintenence has brought this one time giant to its foundation. The food is cheaply priced and fair tasting- good for the price but such attracts dirty patrons which leads to skimpy tippers which led to nightly tirades by servers wishing the managemnet could do something to help them make a living.
But like the hole in the roof that flooded the main dining room the managers of 2001- 2007 ignored common sense and decency knowing they were on salary and that it would not immediately affect them.
This place is trying to start over again it has closed most all its neweer locations with its main store which once boasted 40 servers on a busy night and 90 minute waits now have three empty dining rooms a dirty carpet and owner Michael Seltzer clueless as to what his own lack of leadership has wrought. I wish them luck- the best theing going for them is a bad economy which of course will only bring out the skimpy tippers
