You'd be hard-pressed to find a more cozy setting for a romantic rendezvous -- Maximilien features huge picture windows that provide a stunning view of the sun setting over Elliott Bay. But you can enjoy this French restaurant for any important meal; its dark green walls and wood-framed antique mirrors are visual reminders of this restaurant's permanence in the sometimes volatile Seattle restaurant scene. The menu, dotted with French staples such as escargot, onion soup and beef tenderloin with foie gras and truffle sauce, would be familiar to any Parisian. Same for the small, white linen and candle-covered tables that definitely look like they came from the Left Bank. But virtually all ingredients are local, many obtained just a few steps away at the Pike Place Market. Can't find a table? You're welcome to dine at the bar as you peruse the wine list, which consists largely of French vintages. Maximilien's Sunday brunch is especially popular.

Not a secret anymore
this place is great! It has been a seattle favorite for more than 30 years and people still do not know about it. To sum it up: Great views, the best sunday brunch, great happy hour, and the most unpretentious staff you will find in a French restaurant. Looking forward to there new restaurant(xo bistro) opening soon.
