Real Neapolitan pizza bears little resemblance to the overloaded soggy-crusted fare you may crave, and the owners of 2 Amys, who named the restaurant after their wives, aim to change your mind. Their pizza reflects the look of the place: light, bright and simple, with a welcoming open kitchen and brick oven. Singles, couples, families and the office lunch bunch make tracks for 2 Amys when they want the real deal at a reasonable price.
Check out one of the four pizza styles that meet the rigid specifications of Italy's "pizza police," the association that certifies genuine Naples-style pizza. Try cheeseless Marinara, with simple tomatoes, herbs and garlic, or classic Margherita, with buffalo mozzarella. Margherita Classica adds Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Margherita Extra tosses on cherry tomatoes. All are served up on crisp and fragrant crusts. 2 Amys complies with requests for "the works," but Vongole Pie with garlic, anchovy and cockles is more innovative. Start with crunchy suppli, delicate fried rice balls with melting cheese middles. -- Tracey E. Meloni

2 AMYS or Not 2 AMYS
I say not. After growing up with the best pizza outside of Italy (NYC), it has been a challenge to find good pizza here in DC. After 16 years here, my family and I decided the best pizza was Pizzeria Paradiso (1) and Faccia Luna (2). However, over the years, both pizzerias have not lived up to best pizza standards, but they are still better then the rest. Today, my daughter, mother, and I took a trip into DC just to try 2 Amys. Wow! I don't know what all the buzz is about. I have eaten pizza in Italy, and 2 Amys doesn't come close. My pizza, Marinara, was dry and tough. It had obviously been kneaded too long. The two other pizzas were also dry and chewy. I usually try some place twice before I write it off, not sure if I'll make the trip again though. (I couldn't submit w/o checking on at least one star). Oh! and the $$$$....thumbs down.
