Goldbergs' is right on the money for folks craving the range of Jewish deli classics. Modeled after Detroit's Stage Delicatessen, proprietors Steve and Bill Goldberg took the steps to get it right: The menu is big and comprehensive (it also includes middle-American diner classics), portions are generous, and many ingredients are delivered weekly from the east coast. Some guests won't make it past the 18-item appetizer list, which includes house-made gefilte fish, kishka and gravy (beef casings stuffed with seasoned matzo meal and chicken fat) and the essential chopped liver. In need of comfort? Try the matzo ball soup. The hot corned beef on rye is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and crispy latkes, served with sour cream and applesauce, are a must. An array of smoked fish options includes nova lox and sable (black cod). And who can resist French-fried chicken livers with onions and honey mustard dressing? The big room is cheerful, with a splashy lemon and lime color palette and urban-scene mural giving it an upscale, nouveau-retro feel. There are plenty of booths to sink into and big tables to accommodate large groups.

  • Great for takeout, the Ruebens rock

The place is a treat. I can't bring myself to order the healthier options from the menu, so I don't come too often. But the food is invariably good. I come for the NY Deli-style sandwiches and the apps and am always satisfied, plus some. More than once, though, the takeout bag has been missing an item or two. Minor gripe, but annoying.

  • Excellent food - excellent service

We have tried many things on the menu - have not had a bad meal yet. Breakfast, lunch, dinner - it is all wonderful.
Try the Ruben Sandwich. The wraps are delicious. The cabbage rolls to die for.

  • 3X & always waiting too long

Deli selections were tasty and interesting. But portions are small and too pricey. And the WAIT is always too long- beyond 30 minutes plus. Takeout is better than sit down. Have tried this 3X, might try once more now that they might be past their initial opening day rush. Hopeful for future improvements.
