You won't find Fonzie and the gang sipping soda here, but Leon's comes close in many ways -- it was one of the inspirations for Arnold's joint on 'Happy Days.' Locals flock to the busy take-out windows bathed in the warm, red neon of an era gone by. Known for sundaes and other sweet treats, Leon's also serves up hearty fare like burgers and fries, all at amazingly low prices. If you're stopping for dinner instead of dessert, Leon's chili dogs will pacify the hungriest clan. Also available are "Spanish-style" hamburgers, sloppy joe's with a bit of added seasoning to make them just right. The custard is made daily with fresh cream and eggs, and unsurprisingly tastes best in a dish under decadent blobs of Leon's hot fudge sauce, a family secret. No fancy candy or liqueur-laced creations here -- just classics like mint, butter pecan and a tantalizing cinnamon. Salty, toasted pecans are extra, but well worth it. The whole family is sure to be delighted with the entire menu at Leon's. -- Jessica Zierten

Leon's custard by far is the best in the Whole state of Wisconsin. I have to say it is THE best custard i have ever tasted. The chili dogs and butter pecan flavor are phenominal! They also have very excellent strawberry shakes and employes are very kind. I have to say leons is the best custard there is. =)

Everytime I visit family in Milwaukee I have to hit Leon's. Since most of my family lives on the southside I try to make Gilles at least once each trip but can hit Leon's at least once a day....or more. We don't have custard down south so it's a real treat. By the way how many of you remember Al's Custard Stand (closed now) on E. Layton across from Billy Mitchell???? Great malts and steak sandwiches.

They don't have paper wraps to keep them from touching your cone with their bare hands. They don't have waffle cones or even accept credit cards. The butter pecan is good but they have about 5 flavors they rotate with, not a new flavor every day. Could be a lot better.

The custard is delicious, the toppings are great, the chili dogs unbelieveable, and the employees are good looking too!
