Lupe's Tortillas offers a no-fuss dining experience that kids and parents can both enjoy. A large outdoor sandbox keeps kids and tots occupied through the wait, while Mom and Dad join other area thirty-somethings on the deck for one of Lupe's tangy, potent margaritas. Though best known for its uniquely flavored fajitas, Lupe's offers a variety of flavorful Tex-Mex selections that can delight even the pickiest of eaters. Dishes such as the Chicken Lupe and tacos al carbon are served along with bottomless baskets of chips and spicy beans and salsa. The appropriate Tex-Mex decorations adorn the walls of this former single-family house, and the waitstaff add a dash of color with their festive Hawaiian shirts.
Most guests don't seem to mind the usual wait, but, if you are the impatient kind, call ahead for a takeout order. Folks keep coming back to this place, sometimes from as far away as San Antonio and Austin, so that should tell you something about the quality of the food. -- Amy Kerr

AATin MS - 07/10/2008I discovered Lupeâs about 9 years ago while living in Houston. I was hooked from the first chip. Best Tex-Mex I have ever eaten. Now that I live in Mississippi every trip to Houston is planned so that there are at least two visits to Lupeâs. When I meet friends from Houston we gather at Lupeâs, business meetings are conducted at Lupeâs and when I bring friends from Mississippi â¦.yes we go to Lupeâs. Steak Lupe is my favorite, however I have never had anything I didnât like at Lupeâs. There is only one problem with Lupeâs, itâs an eight hour drive for lunchâ¦.they really need a Lupeâs in Jackson, Mississippi!
Best Fajitas
siladair555 - 02/08/2007I think the food is great! The fajitas are even better if you like grilled onions.Our waitress (Susanna)is always attentive. This is a GREAT place to go if you have children. Not to go for a romantic evening. We go there at least twice a month.

jjjswbell - 01/05/2007About the food; just awful, and I love mexican food. Kids were running between the tables out of control. Waitstaff seemed to be distracted or disoriented, almost zombie-like. I was brought another iced tea, my guest wasn't, although her glass was empty. When I mentioned it, the response was "Oh, I thought she was done". Then, they never did bring more for her. I seldom complain; but, in this case I felt compelled to do so. I would never go again, and I hope this rating saves someone else from a bad experience.
