That glass of Guinness resting on a table at ShamRocks has a classier backdrop these days. By renovating its interior, this grill and pub elevated its status from a divey sports bar to a deluxe dining and playing venue. The menu is made up of traditional grill favorites, and despite a number of items with Irish names, like the O'Danny Boy burger and the King of Kerry T-bone, the fare is altogether American. Prices are very reasonable -- only the appetizer platter and a couple of entrees are over $10, with most dishes in the $5-$8 range. The imported beer selection matches the number of domestics, both bottled and draft. Late night revelers enjoy the 2AM closing time and an ever-changing entertainment schedule that includes karaoke, live bands and dancing on the big floor. Drink and food specials are everyday occurrences -- 10 bucks will get you a pitcher and a pizza on Mondays and "College Nite" on Thursdays offers a $7 all-you-can-drink deal (10:30PM-12:30AM) for scholars with an ID and a high tolerance level.
