Right across from the Target Center and a block from the clubs First Avenue and 7th Street entry, O'Donovan's is ideally located for a night on the town. But this pub has a lot more going for it than just location: It has the best selection of Irish beers on tap in the Twin Cities, in addition to live Celtic music five nights a week. The atmosphere is slightly artificial -- though the bar and its fixtures were imported directly from Ireland, the feel is somewhat like a theme-park version of an Irish tavern -- but you can't beat the drinks, and the pub grub is first-rate. Irish dishes offered include smoked salmon, shepherd's pie, fish 'n' chips, and beef stew made with Murphy's Stout and topped with puff pastry. If you can't fly to Dublin, this is the next best thing.
