If you've never been to South Street institution Tattooed Mom's, dont fear the crowd of regulars that flocks to this artsy boite -- they may look intimidating, but this place is known for its mellow, unpretentious vibe. Owned by Robert Perry and Kathy "Mom" Hughes, the same pair behind Sugar Mom's in Old City, Tattooed Mom's has played host to a diverse crowd of indie rockers, goths, punks, artists and regular folks looking for a cheap place to drink on a Saturday night without being drawn into the typical South Street madness. (In addition to being a laid-back place to drink, Tattooed Mom's also has a decent bar menu thats similar to Sugar Mom's -- think burgers, fries, corn dogs and the like.) Known for, among other things, its jukebox (indie rock, hip-hop and punk dominate) and its support of local artists, Mom's is a place where people just want to drink, listen to music and have good conversations. What could be better than that?

if your gay. dont bother. homophobia prevails. the bartenders are good.
odd that a bar that welcomes the south street crowd treats lesbos different.
we prefer THE DIVE BAR or RAYS. and if your african-american this is not the place to make your neighborhood bar. best in the afternoon.

It's a cheap bar.Good jukebox. The people can somtimes be isolated. It's a hipster hangout. It's a local hangout. It' beats being in a shitty sports bar or a bar thats plays nothing but linkin park and shitty hiphop.Never had the food.Just don't expect to make friends everyopne there sticks to themselves. If you go alot your missing out on other places. It's just a good escape and the place to go when you want a cheap drink.
