The only bar you'll find on Broadway for a long stretch, Yogi's is a refreshing break from the Upper West Side mall. This shotgun space has a warm, wood-and-stone decor and a rugged charm. The friendly bartenders take care of barflies, hipsters and shoppers with equal care. Kitsch is king with Elvis on black velvet, a giant American flag and a variety of southern and Old West knickknacks. Toilets encased in wood make you feel like you're in Grandpappy's outhouse, or maybe a national park campground. Pull up a barstool, have a shot of Rebel Yell and listen to Lynrd Skynrd and Charlie Daniels 'til you can't stand it anymore. --Ken Stockwell

7/19/03...the most fun you can have on the upper westside of Manhattan. I found Yogi's from a bud during pre-Allman Bros. Band show in March 2001 (its become an annual pilgrimage for this tourist from NJ). A shot of adrenaline (and lots of shots of alcohol) from the sexy, saucy gal bartenders while you get primed up for the annual ABB reign in NYC. This time it was my boy's 21st Birthday. Its not a sports bar, but there's as much enthusiasm as in the RF Bleachers in Yankee Stadium. The staff is great & so are Patience and Grace...beer is cold & drinks are stiff. Watch out for the jukebox if your looking for K-rock tunes...most is classic country (there's some yellpppping , but no boots or 10gallon hats in the crowd)...they must only put the ABB CD's in for March each yr. My recommend: Guys 21-61 and wanna go to a place you'll wanna return to every trip into the city? This is the place to experience. A solid buzz was had by all---Patience & Grace: these NJ college boys will never be the same after your awesome service.

Well, the ambiance was great, the atmosphere relaxed, the patrons pretty cool... The music was awesome and the beer icy cold. The A/C was crankin, which was a plus on a hot summer's night... I also frequent the VI so if you're a Village Idiot regular but you want to relax for a change in the A/C, this is the place for you!!! Come and see me dance on the bar... I would highly recommend this bar - especially considering it's within a close stumbling distance from two subway stations!!! LOL

This place is a perfect alternative for Village Idiot in the summer. It's air conditioned for one thing. The jukebox has a great variety of country music. I personally think they have a better selection than Village Idiot. The atmosphere is really nice....wood ceilings, goat heads on the wall, and friendly bar tenders (same ones as Village Idiot). The drinks are cheap and I would definitly go back. It's not quite as "crazy" as Village Idiot, but if you stick around....you'll still see ladies dance on the bar. The crowd is also very friendly and not yuppy at all considering it's the upper west side.
