A New York City Landmark. Cheap Booze & Free Hot Dogs!
Rudy's bar opened in 1933 by the Rudy family. It was one of the first liquor licenses issued in New York City after prohibition ended. The present owner, Jack, started drinking in Rudy's in 1943 when he was 16; back when Hell's Kitchen was really Hell's Kitchen! Rudy's may be the most well known bar in N.Y.C., with a long and colorful history. The stories Jack can tell. Rudy's still has the original wood door from the day it opened. When you walk through it the feel of the old neighborhood saloon is still there with cheap beer, free hot dogs, and great people!

The Scene
Rudy's is one of the last bars in Manhattan where suits, slackers and lifetime ne'er-do-wells commingle in a laid-back, beer-laden haze. It's always loud and crowded, even when the backyard "garden" is open. And when you're ready to date out of your comfy little social circle, slap on your sluttiest lipstick or your spiffiest blue jeans and head here. Chances are you'll cozy up in one of Rudy's little red banquettes with someone new before long.
The Draw
Heated on one of those fast-food rotisseries and served with a plain white bun and a little mustard, the full-sized hot dogs are always free and always available--so long as "the hot dog guy" is behind the bar. The blackboard lists about 12 brews on tap, from Bud to Checker Cab Blonde Ale; Rudy's Red, the house brew, is dirt cheap but rather weak.

The best bar ever
I've been frequenting Rudy's for about 10 years and it is hands down my favorite place to get a drink. No bulls--t - just real New Yorkers. Grab a hot dog and pitcher of Rudy's. Don't forget to tip your bartender!

As a regular at Rudy's for nigh unto 30 years, I can tell you that the review is in error by calling the pitchers "watered down." Were that the case the Rudy's denizens would have vanished ages ago. Please note this error and - one hopes - fix it. THANKS!
True to Hell's Kitchen
Rudy's during the day is not for the week of heart. Can be intimaditing until you get acquanted with the local characters. No pretense. What you see is what you get. One of the few places in midtown where you can still get a strong mixed drink for $5.
So-so for THIS cabbie...
I've never been a big Rudy's fan. The 'rumors' (rumors, eh ?!?!)about watered-down cheap pitchers may also have some merit, and way too many dudes there, too.

Great hang out for

It's Earths equivilent
to that bar in "Star

I've never seen any

has been done over.
People always seem happy
to chat, it has to be
the most unpretentious
place I've ever been in.
Plus I like the ja
