If you've seen the signs for this tiny bakery off Route 51 (the ones touting its wedding cakes stand out), rest assured that you'll find a stop sweet. The bakery may be small, but every nook and cranny of its front showroom is filled with pastries and baked treats. If you're not sure what to get, there's a sample tray right inside the door, next to the rotating shelves. The burnt almond raspberry torte is a favorite, along with other exquisite cakes like ambrosia (cherry and pecan coconut cake with pineapple filling and pecans) and tiramisu cheesecake. If you're just stopping en route to work, they've got cinnamon sticks and coffee, but you'll be tempted by fancy desserts, with that burnt almond raspberry torte, mousse tarts and petite fours available in a sweet single-serving size. Baker and owner Kathy M. Battis trained at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute and has worked in the area for years.

teach190 - 01/05/2007Pastries A La Carte has the best baked goods from cookies to beautiful wedding cakes. Guest from my daughter's wedding are still commenting on the cookies and cake saying they were the best they ever had at a wedding. And Kathy (the owner) takes her time consulting with you and working with your thoughts on a design. Your cake is a one of a kind. She will listen to your wishes on style and taste. Her prices are very fair considering she uses only the best ingredients. Try her products once and you will be hooked too !
Exquisite Taste
lizardsinc - 12/21/2006Everything made at this bakery is of the highest ingredients and of course crafted by hand and it shows in every pastry and cake displayed in their storefront. I'm sure anyone will find some special treat inside that you may never of had before and will no longer be able to live without once tasted. They take special orders for everything but are always booked for weddings and holidays sooner than one might expect. The service in the their store is wonderful; everyone greets you when you walk in and answers any questions you have about any of their fancy pastries. This bakery gives its own special touch to the ordinary cookies and cakes you find somewhere else and they also craft many specialty pastries and such they you may not find somewhere else. This bakery is truly to die for, especially if you have a sweet tooth. I have nothing but praise and thanks to Pastries A-La-Carte for servicing me and making my holiday occasions that much sweeter for my and my family. Everyone must stop in at least once and try something new that might strike your eye. You might just find your new most favorite desert.
