Avant-garde artists, minor legends and the best of the local scene regularly take the cramped stage at Twins Jazz, one rickety flight of steps above U Street. At a club with a two-drink minimum per set and the only action on stage, nobody's really looking for the waitstaff to ply them with food and drinks. Committed listeners dine on the Ethiopian cuisine served here, but the main focus is the music.
Sightlines are respectable and the space is intimate, creating a strong connection between audience and performers. Twins is also home to jam sessions, when locals display their chops on standard material while patrons nurse drinks and wait for the talent to really stand out. Often enough, it does. -- Elisabeth Frater

Excellent
The Jazz/Bar/Restaurant is one of the best in the DC area. The music can be heard
where you sit. Each time I have been there it has been a memorable experience.
The next time I vist I will have dinner.Add CommentTWINS JAZZ

Every experience I've had at Twins Jazz has been a memorable one.
From piano players Larry Willis, Cyrus Chestnut, Allyn Johnson to singer Tamm E Hunt with the best of local, regional, national, international musicians saxophonist Javon Jackson, Kevin Robinson & KREATION, drummer Nasar Abadey and young lion, bassist Romeare Mendez,
The Ethiopian food is scrumptous. Wendy the bartender is friendly and sweet as is owner Kelly Tesfye, the other half of the Jazz twins who have
another spot on Colorado Avenue and feature Jazz most nights.By far the best...BONA FIDE Jazz

One of the few, if not the only, Jazz bar/restaurant that is dedicated to show the roots and origins of jazz.
