I checked out Indebleu last weekend, the decor is very upscale, and drinks are good, but the crowd and the attitudes were disappointing. I tried the food, expecting more indian fusion but like the first review, there's a definate lack of authentic indian cuisine and more french.
It appears the lounge is trying to find it's niche with the upscale/NY wanna jetsetters in downtown DC, but the reality is, this is DC not Miami or NYC. This place does try very hard to set a high standard, but unfortuntely the city is full of niche restaurants that have more appetizing menus and better nightlife. Its not really Indian food
The idea of French-Indian fusion may be interesting, but Indebleu doesn't really deliver on that claim. The food uses a few Indian spices occasionally, but other than that there is no real Indian-ness to it. For those of you looking for good inventive Indian food, try Indique.
That being said, the food is good, and the atmosphere (go to the fireplace room) is nice.
The main bar is just ok -- nothing special. Try the back lounge room if there is no private party -- much nicer.
