  • Big Tim

    Review rating : 4out of 5   McDanielDC - 06/15/2008

I often saw Tim Russert at the Pa. Ave location at lunch and I will sorely miss his big Irish mug on my TV and at Capital Grille.
I honestly never saw him that he wasn't wearing a big smile and he always said hello to everyone from the busboys to the biggest patrons. (I really miss the old days of jibes between him and Ken Starr).
My wife is a USAF Col. and Tim always said a respectfull hello to men/women in uniform. I will never go to Capital Grille or Rd Tomato in Bethesda that I don't miss his larger than life presence.

  • Decent Steaks, terrible service

    Review rating : 3out of 5   Sansu5525 - 06/11/2008

Overall, not the best steaks in DC, but great atmosphere and decent food. The place could vastly improve its service though - it is like being on a roller coaster ride - sometimes good and sometimes very poor. When the restaurnat is busy, the wait staff are non-attentive, short and seem to rush you through a meal. One time we had to fill our own water glasses and my wife went to the bar to get another glass of wine. The clientele seems to make the place a tad stuffy, but the bartenders know how to keep to keep the spirits hight. Overall, decent food, but please work on the wait staff - when you are dropping several hundred dollars on a meal, good service is expected.

  • FABULOUS EXPERIENCE

    Review rating : 5out of 5   out2eater - 08/20/2007

WOW! What a wonderful evening. Our group went right in and was seated and the staff was just wonderful. We could not wait to see the menu. Our waiter, Tony, was very informative and such a delight as he explained the menu and the wine list. Tony gave us suggestions, and hit the mark! The food was presented beautifully and it exceeded our expectations. Not only did the food exceed our expectations, but Tony as well. He was so personable, kind, and such a delight! We would return again and would wait just to have him be our server! KUDOS TONY! Certainly a night that will be hard to top!

  • Excellence

Great food, great service. Tom S. was our server and he did an outstanding job. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Excellent mozzeralla wrapped in Proscuitto, calamari and peppers and I had an incredible Porterhouse. Melted in my mouth full of taste. The lettuce wedge is also highly recommended....

The food, atmosphere and service is first rate. The best steaks in the greater Washington area. Pricy, but worth it when you want to pamper yourself and your partner.

  • Should be No. 1

    Review rating : 5out of 5   lorijpaul - 02/20/2007

I have eaten at the first six shown, and I think that Ruth Chris' and Morton's are so overrated. By far, The Capital Grille is No. 1 in customer service and food. They treat you like no other restaurant, except maybe The Inn at Little Washington--it's a lot more affordable-- and we all love going there. The people are warm and friendly and remember you when you come back--that's especially nice. The atmosphere at Ruth Chris is cold and Morton's and the Palm are so loud--not enjoyable. My family and my coworkers go there at least once a week and love it. The chef is amazing.
