City's Best

Miami Beach, FL 33139

Here's a quick recipe: combine the expertise of two award-winning chefs, add plenty of love and a dash of innovation and voila! -- you have the magic of Talula Restaurant and Bar. This highly awaited restaurant features the talents of culinary couple Andrea Curto-Randazzo and Frank Randazzo. She was best known as the chef that put Wish Restaurant on the map and he wowed meat lovers at the Lowe's Gaucho Room. Now they have a place to call their own and a cool home it is. The very warm and inviting earth-toned space features a variety of materials including rich woods, Moroccan lamps and Chicago brick. It's as eclectic as the menu of creative American cuisine. Starters like the barbecue quail and Caicos Islands conch ceviche are extraordinary. Delectable entree favorites from the sea include black grouper with udon noodles and yellowtail snapper with a sweet potato mushroom risotto. Meat dishes such as the Australian lamb rack and rib eye are sure to please. Overall, Talula is a scene you'll want to make very soon, after which it's bound to become one of your frequent dining destinations. -- Marivi Iglesias

Came down from Manhattan for the weekend with some friends. We read about it in the Times so we figured we'd try it out. It was a real treat and something different from the usual Manhattan scene. Great service, great food, and a great time. I'll definately return the next time I'm in town.

  • Great!

When you have a date like I did for Valentine's Day, you can't fool around. I'm happy I made the right decision in Talula, because it was no joke.

My wife and I went to Talula last Friday evening, February 6th, 2004. We had a reservation for 8:00PM and we arrived about 7:45PM so we could get a drink at the bar. We sat down at about 8:05PM in a comfortable little booth in the back of the restaurant overlooking the whole crowd. I ordered the Tuna Tar Tar and my wife ordered the Fois Gras. The fois gras was the best I've ever tasted and one would hope that the sushi restaurants here in South Beach could have that type of tuna that just melts in your mouth. I felt a little guilty about ordering the Rissotto del Giorno (since I know my grandmother would have been very insulted if I'd eaten anyone but her's), but I'm sure she's turning over in her grave now listening to me say that it was nothing less than wonderful. My wife ordered a nice cut of filet mignon which was very tender and cooked to perfection. We drank the bottle of wine that our waiter had suggested, and to our stomach's and wallet's delite, the meal was very good and a lot more reasonable than the other big-named restaurants in Miami. I would definately recommend it to anyone who just wants to go out, have a nice evening, and enjoy the company of someone special somewhere special.

I finally made it to Talula after hearing about for it from friends for 6 months. It was worth the simple drive over the causeway from Coral Gables. Great food and energy with a reasonable wine list. Chef Andrea is very attractive as well and we loved that she visited our table. She really is talented. All the success as Talula is a winner.
