The intimate setting and fantastic Italian food is enough reason to give patrons a reason to linger after their plate of linguini, but the belly dancers and live jazz usually do the trick. Dolores del Rio is one of the River Walk's most authentic and charming restaurants. It's tucked away on the west end in a less populated area, and hidden behind the overgrown foliage and an unassuming red door. Inside, make a quick left up some stairs to find a tiny bohemian-like dining area with a low wood-beamed ceiling and swanky art on the walls. A quiet, leisurely lunch can be had here, but for the true Dolores del Rio experience come in the evening when the vibe turns sultry and local jazz heavies and belly dancers take turns performing.

Great Atmosphere
Great atmosphere and very good food. We sat outside under the tree growing out of the building and watched the river taxis. The prices were fair and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

This restaurant was so unbelievably romantic and intimate. It was perfect for a quiet date night. The wait staff treats everyone like their long time friend, the food was fantastic. I want to tell everyone I know about this, but at the same time it's such an amazing find, I don't want anyone to know about it. Enjoy!!
My best kept secret
I love this place! By the look of the outside, you would never guess what romantic restaurant would be hidden on the inside. Its very small (you end up very close to your dining neighbors), but the ambiance truly makes up for its size. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is divine. I've kept it my secret place for romantic dates.. Its truly a breath of fresh air compaired to the other busy, loud restaurants on the river.

We went last year for our first anniversary, perfect pick! It was intimate and crowd joining. Great music, entertainment (belly dancer), and great food. Service was great, loved the 'family knit' staff. Going back again for year 2!
Dslevey's Review
Go when there is a jazz band- either Sun or Tuesday. You should call and insist that they have music more often, as this is a perfect mood elevator for an already very good Italian meal... even if the service can be poor. The place is so small (and cozy)... they certainly are not too far away... they do need to get off their hiney and get out to the tables!!!
You can find it at the quiet end of the Riverwalk- it is worth a visit.
