Remember the 'Brady Bunch' episode where Greg constructs a swingin' bachelor pad in his dad's den? The Lava Lounge does. Of course, the self-styled Johnny Bravo from TV's most wholesome family never had this taste in music. Electronica is the standard fare here, with a sprinkling of other danceable genres mixed in. With just a few tables, a handful of lava lamps and not much else, the Lava Lounge serves multiple functions -- after-work meeting spot, night-out starting place, late-night diner and dance club -- with aplomb. The menu is limited but legendary; the omelets alone are worth a trip. Other items include stuffed mozzarella and pork tenderloin. The clientele here is among the city's most varied. The after-work crowd and pre-night-owl crowd tend to overlap for an hour or two on some nights, making it the epitome of melting pot.
