Popcorn and Junior Mints may never be supplanted as America's favorite movie food, but cinephiles catching a flick at The Charles or theatre-goers getting their stage fix at Everyman Theatre have an intriguing new dining option. Blink and you'll miss Sofi's Crepes, wedged between the two entertainment venues on North Charles Street. It's a carryout by default; the place is only big enough to house a small counter ordering area about the size of the front seat of a Chevette.

The crepes here fall into two basic categories: those that could stand in as a sandwich for a meal and those better suited for a dessert menu. The former includes savory fillings like ham, Gruyere cheese and Dijon mustard; sliced turkey, pesto mayonnaise and cranberry chutney; bacon, egg and cheese; and spinach, mushroom and pine nuts. Sweet treats abound, so select from turtle (caramel and chocolate), homemade butterscotch, s'mores (chocolate, melted marshmallow and graham crackers), peanut butter cup or fruit preserves. Ask to have your pancake-like shells stuffed with any and all fillings, as much as you'd like (for a price). If people-watching is your bag, grab one of the few small outside tables and ogle away. -- Pete Kerzel
