When Peter Pflug, owner of the wildly popular Clarendon Grill, purchased the old carpet warehouse on Wilson Boulevard, he had a vision. He wanted to turn the 20,000 square feet of space into an elegant ballroom modeled after the lavish ballrooms of the Big Band era. He wanted a place large enough to host charity events and private parties, but also a place that could serve as a weekend live-music spot, and even a place where you could take swing dancing lessons. One million dollars later, the Clarendon Ballroom's debut met with instant success.

This stunning, smoke-free interior features endless hardwood floors, impressive white archways, elegant art deco touches (like a gold-leaf pressed-tin ceiling) and an oversized bar that stretches forever. A rooftop terrace (where smoking is permitted) with another large bar is open in balmy weather, and draws decent-sized crowds on summer Wednesday nights. The entertainment at Clarendon Ballroom is divided up strategically to cover all possible clientele interests, with certain evenings reserved for live music and DJs, others for special events, and still others for swing dancing.
