City's Best

60 6th St
San Francisco, CA 94103

Located on one of the sketchier downtown blocks, Club Six is home to several progressive dance nights. The modest-sized venue (open mostly on Fridays and Saturdays) is comprised of two floors that couldn't be less alike. Upon entering, patrons are greeted by an avant-garde lounge complete with high ceilings, comfy couches and artwork- adorned walls. The venue's only bar runs lengthwise across the right wall. Across the room, however, stairs descend toward the club's main attraction: the basement. Depending on the night's focus, dancers will encounter a forward-sounding mix of house, electro or drum 'n' bass, spun by capable -- and often nationally renown -- DJs. The den isn't for casual listeners, though. It's for dancing fools. Club Six's sauna-like basement should be called Club 106 -- as in degrees. While the smattering of overhead fans offer little oasis, the heat actually adds to the unique experience. The intimate proximity between DJ and dripping dancers makes for an invigorating evening.

The place is huge , you have a lot of projectors everywhere, and many different rooms with bar in all of them! Club Six got the famous Dark Room, and there is all the type of music ( Hip hop, R&B, soul, reggae, house....).

I like that you don't have any dress code, so you don't think for a hour about how you will get dressed to come in!!! You go there to have fun, and dancing not to do a model show!! You have a lot of setting even if, when you go there you don't want to seat down!!! THE MUSIC IS GREAT!!

Having been a regular for the last few years, Club 6 is my favorite S.F. spot. Underground enough to keep out the yuppies that poison the city. Amazing sound, 3 different clubs in one. I've seen: Z trip,The Muse, Jazzy Jeff, Baby Cham, Jesse Saunders, Talib, KRS 1, ?uestlove, Mos Def to name a few. Different types of music on diffent nights. Dancer paradise. It was the club in the movie version of Rent.
