What does java monkey mean? Nothing really. It more or less captures the essence of a fun, lighthearted and laid-back coffee shop, which is exactly what Java Monkey is. The Monkey welcomes college crowds from Emory, Agnes Scott and GSU who come to study and socialize. You'll also find Decatur neighborhood residents enjoying the live music that is played on the patio on Wednesday-Saturday nights.

Most people come for the fair-trade, environmentally friendly, Equal Exchange coffee. But if you're hungry, pick up a pastry in the morning, a panini sandwich or salad at lunch, or some bruschetta around dinnertime. You can always enjoy a glass of wine, especially every other Thursday when ten bucks will get you six samples off of Java Monkey's wine list.
