Love is in the air at Cafe Intermezzo. Or maybe it's all the coffee. It could be the sugar from the world-class desserts. Nah, it's probably just the alcohol. Whatever it is, Cafe Intermezzo has something going right: ambience. It's the perfect place for an amorous first date or for a sophisticated evening with some friends.

Located in the Park Place shopping center, Intermezzo is almost outside the Perimeter. It's one of your best bets for afternoon coffee or a nightcap should you find yourself near Perimeter Mall. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and once you're seated you'll wonder where the staff went. They seem to forget about the customers, but who cares? This place offers European charm, an attractive and diverse mix of people and pleasant mood music. And there is a location near Peachtree Battle for those who want to stay closer intown.

  • CONTEMPTUOUS PROFITEERS, One Year Later (2008)

    Review rating : 1out of 5   SixFt5Bear - 09/16/2008

    Read first my 2007 review (also posted here and mangled by AOL's software). 2008 SUMMARY: The sad story continues at Buckhead Atlanta's Cafe Intermezzo. (1) SURLY AND LAZY waitrons; mine seemed to be an angry Eastern-European wage slave fresh off the boat. (2) 2008 PRICE INCREASE on already-OVERPRICED, often CHILD-SIZE-PORTION bar/cafe drinks/desserts/snacks: You know, those oddball, tall-and-narrow, six-ounce glasses filled with ice and one squirt of no-free-refills, not-even-alcoholic liquid (however, at $3.19, the six-ounce iced tea qualifies for free refills, but that's assuming your waitron ever reappears)...coupled with a plated $10+ handful of pasta...and an $8.48, 6-inch-length by 2.5-inch-arc of STALE-tasting dessert pie (last year, same item tasted thawed-from-frozen fresh). (3) DIRTY, BLOWER/NO-PAPER-TOWEL BATHROOMS (for you and the ones who handle your drinks and food) are an owner specialty; filth on the unwashed, dirty-grout walls has been there a decade. (Note: Dessert and iced-tea prices include 8% tax.)

  • Dirty!

    We've gone to both locations and both times we were disappointed! They must clean these places. The clear glass dishes had a thick film on them. When we complained to the server she offered no solution to our concern.

  • Enjoyed it Thoroughly!!

    We went as a foursome to the Peachtree location and had a great time!! The waiter was efficient, the menu diverse, and the atmosphere was very European...a REAL triple threat!! We each ordered something different, but the Shrimp Scampi was ONE OF THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD...AND MY HUSBAND & I BOTH GRADUATED FROM CULINARY SCHOOL!! Flavorful and not greasy, with a touch of rosemary was exquisite!! Overall, a great value.

    P. S. We were on our way to Church afterwards and I left my sweater...and the waiter chased us down the block to get it to me!! What a treasure in the middle of the city!!

    When my boyfriend took me here for dessert after i was excited, he had talked it up all week everything is a bit over priced including the wine list but he told me it was worth it. So after we picked out our dessert and set at our table his dessert was brought out before mine he started to eat his, a couple walking by stop and noticed a big flying roach crawling down the wall towards our table i was disgusted my boyfriend killed it and walked away i thought he went to complain he flulshed it down the men's toliet. I was so upset i left he had the nerve to get my dessert to go. I know every restaurant has citters but i don't want to have to see them. Didn't get to try the dessert and after that experience don't think i ever will.

  • Price trumps mediocrity

    Review rating : 1out of 5   cinziacarina - 06/09/2008

    I don't know why Intermezzo gets so much credit for desserts. They are outrageously priced, but what's worse, of mediocre quality. There's no love in those born-on-the-assembly line- cakes -. Those are the same cakes that all the trendy Atlanta restaurants are serving. Yes they're beautiful to look at, but often dry, bland, stale, with texture like corn bread. The only thing Cafe Intermezzo has going for it is that it's open late. I guess when you've got the munchies you don't really care about quality. Never mind about the service : - {
