Think all hotel lounges are for stuffy guys in three-piece suits? Get ready for the Helix Lounge. Located just off the Hotel Helix's funky lobby, this place is hip. Like Washington's weather, the Helix's mood and atmosphere constantly change. You'll feel as if you're inside a kaleidoscope: Morphing lights transform the place from a golden glow to dusky blue.
There's a setting for your every frame of mind. Sink into the white patent leather-lined alcove, or bring a group to the big communal table. Surround the volcano-shaped centerpiece, or settle into a private nook with gauzy curtains. Plop onto plush hassocks that light up when you sit down. The long, sleek bar provides exotic drinks, concentrating more on martinis than brews. Fun finger food leans toward updated comfort fare, maybe little plates of mac 'n cheese or mini meatloaf. Happy hour fun starts at 4PM and the beat goes on as the night picks up. In May 2004, Helix began opening its outdoor patio in the evenings and for weekend brunch in pleasant weather. -- Tracey E. Helix Lounge Updates
The Helix Lounge has a fresh look and new offerings for our fabulous guests! After a big renovation last spring, the Helix lounge is back and better than before. Gone are the light-up stools, replaced by marshmallow-like seating. The bar is now lined with white patent bar stools and sports a new LCD TV.
For you pet loving lounge go-ers, we are bringing back the wildly popular Doggie Happy Hour each Wednesday beginning May 21st. Pet peeve cocktails and other drink specials will be offered, and the Humane Society will be bringing an adoptable dog each week. New for 2008 is Frisky Business, a networking event for dog owners, which will take place on the first Wednesday of each month in conjunction with Doggie Happy Hour.
The Helix Patio had its grand opening on May 10th! Stop by for happy hour, featuring specials on buckets of Natty Light or Rolling Rock, and 1/2 priced Pajama Party martinis.
Celebrate the Helix's signature drink, the Pajama Party, on the last Saturday of each month. Show up in your pajamas and sip 1/2 priced Pajama Party martinis all night long!

Most fun hotel I have ever stayed in. Best place for singles or couples. Would not recommend for folks with children. Rooms are superbly designed. Very funky and hip. Service is great. Fitness center is very limited so don't expect mich from it. The lounge and patio area are cool, hip to hang out. The hotel is far off from nice places to eat. Valet is $27/night which is reasonable.
Great hotel
Just stayed there for 3 nights Easter weekend. I can't say enough great things about this hotel. If you are looking for a funky retro feel this is the place to be. Also they are a dog friendly hotel. Our dalmation was greeted with a dog biscuit and pet bowls. Only criticism would be that the TV doesn't get HBO or Showtime. We missed the seaon premire of the Sorprano's.
.
Real nice Bar, especailly when the drunks leave late night, talk like it 10 Oclock in the morning, throw their trash and empties on our street and oh, Almost forgot, they take up our parking spots, then scratch our cars when there drunk butts are leaving at 3 in the morning and waking us up
great place
The best service, great steak, and creative and tasty drinks. Love this place, very diverse, I couldn't say enough to say how great the waitstaff is.
