great time!
These unhappy reviews seem to be a little dated, because my wife and I just went and we had an amazing time. The place is lively and colorful and the food was really unique, creative, and delicious. The unagi appetizer was awesome. The service was great- our server really knew the menu, which was nice because it unfortunately is not that common here in DC- and everyone was super warm and friendly from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. It was interesting to see all types of tables, old couples and young couples, romantic dates by the window and large tables of friends,- and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I know we did- this place is just fun- maybe I just loved it because Carlos at the bar makes the best mojitos! Either way I can't wait to go back with some friends, and by dessert my wife had gotten me to promise to take her to minibar for her birthday.

IÂm really not sure why Café Atlantico gets such good reviews. If it really was good at one time, it seems to have gone downhill. Needless to say, I was really disappointed. The food is bland and over priced for what you get. I had the portabella mushroom dinner, which in all fairness, would have been acceptable for half the price, but definitely not worth what I spent. My partner had the salmon dish, which was bland  you could do a lot better for cheaper (I would suggest the salmon dish at Thai Chef on Connecticut avenue, north of DuPont Circle). The decor is tacky and depressing. Worst of all, the service is terrible. The waiter was not attentive and seemed annoyed that he had to serve us at all. The bartender downstairs was indifferent and the manager on duty was passive aggressive (I was actually frightened). There are plenty of good restaurants in D.C.: go elsewhere...
nouveau latin cuisine
Greeted by Manuel (the GM) and his staff this restaurant is a true renaissance to latin cuisine with clever use of roots and seafood and beef to create beautiful dishes. The wine list is very extensive with emphasis on Spanish and Chilean wines. Try the wine flights and the wine pairing. Great service, great prices and food that you haven't seen before.
Eyzarblu's Review
I am sincerely hoping that I went on an off night because my meal was absolutely mediocre. The salad starter was tasteless and the scallops were cold in the middle and the coconut rice was bland at best. I was looking forward to a great meal based on what others had told me. Such was not the case unfortunately.
