There aren't many corner bars in Clayton. So when one sprouts up at a popular intersection like Forsyth and Bemiston, drivers lean far out of car windows, and pedestrians walk slower, trying to catch a glimpse. Contiguous to the ultra popular Cafe Napoli, Bar Napoli differs greatly in ambiance, yet manages to be every bit as sophisticated as its neighbor. The unique, serpentine bar is perhaps the most striking aesthetic (besides the well-groomed patrons), though that's a tough point to argue. With its silver tile base and smooth, liquid-like countertop, it can't help but be a focal point. Unless your eyes have stumbled upon the medusa-like beads rising from the frosted mini lamps on the front wall or the plum-kissed lights which dot the ceiling. Then, of course, there are the beverages, which include a variety of tasty martinis, wines from across the globe and domestic and imported beers. The substantial list of appetizers isn't particularly inventive, but the crowd seems oblivious. They came for the atmosphere, and they won't go home disappointed. -- Stefanie Ellis
