Oddfellows Rest brings a Saturday night on Bourbon Street to Hoboken. True to its Louisiana roots, the bar serves up lethal hurricanes so strong that a sign over the bar limits patrons to three of the fruity cocktails. The scene, set amid exposed brick and unfinished walls decorated with license plates, is generally shoulder-to-shoulder from happy hour on. Crowded early with commuters just off the PATH train, the crowd gets younger as the hour gets later, with patrons shouting over the blues and rock music and awaiting their turn at the pool table or dart board. But those who don't get past the lively bar will be missing out on what USA Today deems one of the top 10 catfish restaurants in the country. Owners Liz Stirling, a New Orleans native, and Jerry Maher take their catfish, and all things Louisiana, very seriously. They even fly chef Carlos Cruz down to the Big Easy several times a year for a refresher. As ceiling fans spin lazily overhead, enjoy a heaping portion of Cajun and Creole cuisine. Try an appetizer of catfish fingers served with homemade tartar sauce or Cajun popcorn, lightly fried crawfish tails with homemade tartar sauce. Follow it up with anything from a po'boy to spicy jambalaya or crawfish etouffee. In the summertime, the menu can be enjoyed in an outdoor courtyard, or at sidewalk seating as well.

francis09876f - 03/28/2007Lunch is good on Sat, I go there every so often, but service is not. Maybe they need to have the servers stop sitting on the table reading magazines and instead focus on good service!

brian09876b - 03/23/2007I am never going to Oddfellows again on a wednesday night because they have the same people singing the same SONGS...how boring and annoying! Switch things up a bit and maybe this place will be filled with fun entertaining people. And YES the hurricane's are on special but when I asked for another hurricane the rude bartender gave me a dirty look for tipping a dollar for 2 of them. MANNERS people!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a heavy guy and can hold my drinks but the attitude over a tip, give me a break! maybe smile and say Thank you instead of worrying for an extra dollar. goes to show that the ship is sinking and we need a new karaoke bar to get a buzz and listen to NEW singers! I am over this place

loyd728 - 03/22/2007Went to Oddfellows on a wednesday night and experienced Karaoke for the first time. Heard some really good singers, while the rest were very entertaining. The hurricanes were on special so I gave them a whirl, and I must say they were pretty good. Overall I had a great time and definitely will be back!
Service terrible
timmy09876t - 02/27/2007I agree that the food is OK, but the service is terrible. Lousy order from waitress and when i went to bathroom, saw manager with bouncer (or security if you want to call them that) playing darts and were obliviious to what was going on (poor service, loud dj, just everything) so if you want some quiet time with good service, make sure you skip Oddfellowes and go next door or maybe do take out. no wonder they have help wanted signs on window, servers and managers need major renovations, even bartenders can not make a huricane and beer was flat! HORRIBLE...no wonder other oddfellowes was SOLD!
