Kansas City's first cabaret is an elegant but unpretentious affair. Super-high ceilings, covered by corrugated metal and lined with exposed silvery ducts, create a modern, industrial feel. The smooth concrete walls and floors add to the luxury-warehouse effect. Colorful modern artwork --done by local artists -- fits perfectly with the neighborhood's reputation as Kansas City's premier gallery district. And the food menu, which features blini, pate and salmon croquettes, suggests that some attempt at artistry is going on in the kitchen, as well.
But it's the piano that takes center stage at Bar Natasha -- literally. Resting regally on a circular riser in the middle of the bar, the sleek baby grand is spotlighted like an opera diva and adorned by more flowers than a mob boss's coffin. It's not just for show. Nightly entertainment often unfolds into full-fledged sing-a-longs, fueled on by bar tenders and wait staff made up mainly of actors, singers and other performers. The crowd, gay and straight, is an equally prominent part of each number. So don't be shy, sing up.

operadude19751 - 07/01/2008is it just me or does the staff at bar natasha suck lately? especially if you want table service, which sucks 75% of the time, but then even the bartender was slow. she stood and chit chatted with her bf all night while we were waiting for drinks one night.i guess the best singers don't always make the best wait staff. and charging an arm and a leg for drinks you'd think they have better people working.

pointgraphics1 - 02/29/2008I LOVE Bar Natasha. It is the only Cabaret bar/piano bar in the city. It's great because you can enjoy the live show and still chat with friends. The decor & atmosphere is wonderful, great art displays all the time. The cabaret show is always good, and they put on new shows frequently. The owners also sing, play piano and mingle with the crowd making everyone feel welcome. Singing waiters entertain you, and they are all very talented. The crowd is mixed with Gay & straight people but everyone is very comfortable with that, so everyone feels welcome. Drinks prices are a bit high, but it's usually worth it for a great crowd, atmosphere, and cabaret show. Kansas City's BEST BAR....very impressive for that first date!
